Heat and charging issue. What's our best course of action?

Basically, the Touch Pro has a design flaw.

It gets REALLY hot during normal phone use. It is suspected that the radio is EXTREMELY inefficient in this phone. Somewhere in the range of 13% power efficiency.

Now, most of us could probably live with horrid battery life, and a hot phone, however, this particular device stops charging once it gets hot enough.

I have now owned 4 Touch Pros. All of them have had this heat/charging issue. Build dates of 10/12, 10/13, 10/14, and now 11/7. Clearly the newer revisions are not fixing this hideous problem. (My phone also has just about every other known defect as well.)

Sprint denies the problem, and HTC tells us to go away.

If anyone knows how we can get started on a solution for this, before we are forced to jump-ship and get a quality (working) WM power-phone from another carrier?

P.S. The Fuze from AT&T does NOT, I repeat NOT, get warm during phone calls. If Sprint cannot fix this, I will be picking this phone up over there for sure.

Re: Is the stock charger adequate?

There seems to be some issue, for me, with the charging ability of any charger while the phone is really hot. For the most part, my phone doesn't get too hot except if I am using the speakerphone for a long time or at the same time as the phone is plugged in. Anyway, when the phone is really hot, it just doesn't seem to charge... weird.

Re: Is the stock charger adequate?

The stock charger provides more than enough juice to power the phone along with all of the radios - GPS, cell, wifi... The problem is the heat. When the battery hits a threshold temp, a sort of internal circuit breaker trips preventing further charging (till it cools down a bit) If you would have actively cooled the device through that call, it would have stayed at 100% the whole time. Its one of my personal biggest gripes about this device...

Re: Is the stock charger adequate?

We need more heavy callers to report back in, because if this is a case then these phones are defective out of the box

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

I have been having relatively good luck with my battery. I have a old USB 1.1 hub I use as a charger for my Ipod, Blue tooth ipod adapter, and my TP. It does take a while to charge at night (on the charger at 11pm, still charging at 3am) but always charged by morning 6:30ish. I have plenty of power to get though the day having Exchange push e-mail, .5-2 hrs web surfing, screen brightness at 100%, but almost no voice calls, less then 5 min a day. I do live & work in areas with good EV coverage. 40-50% left at the end of the day, unless I listen to some music on my BT stereo headset, then I seem to get about 20-30% of my batt drained per hour of music playback.

I did notice that the included adaper is a 1amp out adaper. Might some of the problems others have been having are that the batt heats up too much while charging with the included power adaper/charger?

Re: Is the stock charger adequate?

I don't think it is just the TP, it maybe more suceptible to the problem though. The Titan would do the same thing if it begun to get really hot. Charging the battery causes heat then using other features such as WiFi or bluetooth add even more heat. I had several instances where I noticed my Titan was not charging even though it was plugged in. You would know there was a problem by the blinking oragnge led singnaling there was a problem. Even in my car I would notice it from time to time. After unplugging the phone and holding it in front of the ac vent for a minute it would resume charging. I know this doesn't help to solve your problem , but I hope it shows that it isn't an isolated event.

Re: Is the stock charger adequate?

Well both of mine have done the same thing. I replaced the first one at BBY hoping to get a better one and no dice. It still gets too hot during a long call or during bluetooth internet sharing, or wmwifirouter, streaming audio extensively... I could have accepted this problem if it were only happening in wmwifirouter, but a normal phone call?
