Re: My battery hates 100%

how long has this happened for? it could just be the phone trying to "learn" the battery. sometimes that takes a few charging cycles.

Re: My battery hates 100%

Drain the battery all the way down so the phone shuts off. Then charge over night. That will re-calibrate the battery and should help the issue.

Re: My battery hates 100%

Yup.. sorry fella's.. as much as pepole want everything to be perfect on these phones, there are just some things you can't control. Battery charging is one of them.

Keep in mind that with anything electronic or mechanical, there is a "break in" period that must be gone through before you get the peak performance of the device. The battery is one of them. After a couple of full discharge and charge cycles, the battery and phone will know ther limitations on both ends. Once this has been established, you will see a difference.

I have gone though four complete discharges and charges and I think my battery is almost there. However, I will have to do this all over again once I can get my hands on the extended battery.

Re: My battery hates 100%

So, a complete discharge would be running the phone until it shuts itself off? I've never done one of those...I thought they were bad for the phone. Once it shuts itself off, can I turn it on while plugged in and charging? Thanks by the way.

Re: My battery hates 100%

its not the best thing to do but doing it every 30 power cycles or so wont kill your phone. consider it a necessary evil.

Re: My battery hates 100%

I thought that lithium ion batteries (which is in the TP and essentially all electronics these days) should never be discharged all the way. That was what was better for nickle cadmium batteries. Lithium ion batteries should be charged whenever you lose 40% or so. That was the best way to improve battery life. I think that completely discharging the battery will have adverse affects in the long run.

To a degree you are right... you should never fully discharge these battries. BUT when the phone gets to a certian point where it cannot stay on due to low power it will shut itself off. The battery never actually gets "fully discharged". Doing so would risk the possiblity of "reversing the poles" of a cell and then you have a worthless battery. Most devices themselves prevent them from happening with voltage protction circuits. You can take these batteries probably down to .16 volts and never cause a problem. But less than that or 0 volts will casue issues.
