Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

Every time I think of something I miss from the Mogul, I just picture the memory error popups on it's ugly screen. HTC need to make a pda that combines all the good aspects of the pro, hd & mogul together

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

I am a graphic designer, Modeler. So I visit ALOT of CG art sites and most have HI res CG-i pictures. Everytime I was on my Moguls surfing around those sites... the phone would run out of memory! HAd to restart the browser. I hated it soooo much!

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

something i found with the diamond...(dont have the tp yet at least)...

with the flush screen i didnt need all the buttons. i first freeked when it didn't have the softkeys, ok, and windows buttons at least. the flush screen allow me to easily access these hard to reach areas of the screen on the mogul.

does that make since.

i did remove TF3D as well. felt it was extra steps for a lot of stuff. i started a thread about it in the diamond forum, but was in the minority. theres a poll in that thread that looks like 80% liked it.

"I got the TP this morning and so far today I have mixed feelings. They added more than I could ever ask for when it comes to the upgrade from my mogul, and then took away more than I could have feared.

We needed more memory, but 288mb was overshoot, for WM6.1 we only needed 144mb or somewhere in-between (all that extra RAM is burning power as we speak).

I admit, a higher resolution was needed. But, while qvga was too low, vga is too high! Applications such as googlemaps, which are now required to fill four times more pixels, wind up studdering when trying to scroll. But at least this I understand, there really is nothing between qvga and vga; so this I don't mind too much, just rewrite googlemaps to pixel double or something and everyone will be happy.

But also important is what the designers took away.

While the mogul had too many LEDs, the TP has none! No indicators whatsoever to notify you of a missed call, voicemail, or e-mail. Or so it seems since there are white LEDs around the Dpad, but they are not given as an option (so this might be fixable).

While the mogul had too many buttons, more than anyone could have thought useful, the TP has no buttons to spare whatsoever. And the buttons it does have are often the wrong ones (though I hear they will be customizable by the right app)."

My feelings exactly. I've decided to stick with the Mogul, and keep ordering replacements as needed, until the right thing comes along. Enjoy your phones, folks. Maybe I'll see you on the forum for the next great thing (or back in the Mogul forum from time to time, or here out of curiousity), but for now, I don't see this as a net gain. I don't think I'd take a TP in an even trade at this point, since I don't want to have to start dealing with patches and fixes all over again. I've have them all done for almost a year on the Mogul, and every time I need a replacement unit, I just restore my backup, and I'm good to go. It was fun and challenging going through it once, I just don't want to do it again, though.
I think I might go this route too. I really hate the lack of hard buttons, I use them about 80% of the time I use my mogul. They only thing I wish the mogul had was more ram. I think I might just wait for something comparable to the touch hd comes out, with a bigger screen, which is what I really want.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

I think codyppc nailed it when he talked about the flush screen. I went from a 700wx to a touch and the lack of buttons almost killed me there, but I got used to it. I guess it was an easier transition to the tp from the touch due to those lack of buttons

I dont like the fingerprints all over... not just the screen

Lightbulb About the D-Pad

Here's a tip for using the D-Pad. Don't press on the raised circular area. Press on the outside of the raised area. Works much better. Occassionally I hit the phone send or end button, but it works a lot better and I used to hit the center "enter/OK" button a lot.

I think HTC should've put little raised braille dots where the up, down, left, and right positions are. The raised circular area makes you think you should push on that part, when it's better to press on the outside of that raised circular area.

Re: Sprint Touch Pro owners... what don't you like about it?

The d-pad works just fine when you get used to it, the only thing i don't like about it is the keyboard. Keys are kinda small but coming from an iPhone anything is better lol. I went from an ATT Tilt to an iphone sure the phone is cool but damn windows mobile is like crack. I just needed it lol, iPhone was just to damn limiting couldn't do nothing without jailbreaking plus ATT kinda blows. Only good thing about them is the phones themselves

Seconded. I thought my left/right buttons were broken because I was pressing on the circle and they wern't doing anything; I discovered that pressing well to the sides of the circle made it work properly. On an additional note, who at HTC thought it was a good idea to make the capacitance-sensitive circle zoom instead of scroll?? Is there any way to change its behavior?
