Does anyone remember the old programs like Stacker that used compression to increase hard drive capacity? Is anything like that available for cards or jump drives? Just curious if you could double the extra storage for the 4GB Diamond if you needed to.

The HTC Touch Pro has 512MB of ROM and a microSD card slot. The Diamond contains 4GB of flash memory in ADDITION to the ROM, and in place of a card slot.
As for compression, those whole-drive compression methods had two major problems: performance (it took a lot of work to be constantly compressing and decompressing files) and reliability (they essentially converted the whole drive into one file, so any corruption would destroy everything), which is why they're pretty much non-existent now. Also I don't think the phones could handle that strain.

I think I've already been corrected at least twice, but maybe it wasn't this thread. Hadn't realized they had changed it for the CDMA version when I wrote that.
