Well the hardware would have to be there and if it was there really isn't a reason for the Diamond not to have the feature unlocked. But I guess they did that with the GPS on the Touch/Mogul.

I wouldn't think so but I guess you never know. The only thing would be the software wasn't ready. BUt they already have the software on the Touch Pro working. I'd say it's very unlikely.

FYI GPS on touch/mogul was never unlocked until HTC themselves released an update unlocking it for sprint

It was originally locked due to the licensing scheme of the chips in the phone - HTC has to pay licensing fees to unlock each feature. I imagine sprint paid to get GPS on their version of the phone, and people just moved that software to the devices of other carriers.

Since tv-out would not be built into these chips, there would be no reason for HTC to lock up the functionality if it was built in.

Do you think that they will ever offer a better connection? Like s-video or possibly component/vga? Do any phones have anything more than standard composite?

i already have enough to buy this phone, but i wanna have enough for the video cable too. i'd buy one now, but i know that that in euro they use PAL, and in USA we use NTSC to display video or whatever. i dont know if the cable matters, but i dont wanna end up with a cable that wont play stuff on my TV because i dont have an NTSC one :-'(

Pal and NTSC standards have to do with the signal sent... not the media it is sent on. As most have already said you would be more than safe to buy these cables. personally ill wait for the simple reason that the longer the cables exist the more people make them the more likely there is to be competition and thus a lower price.

Exactly what this guy said. PAL vs. NTSC is the signal, not the cables. That's why, for instance, you can buy Japanese/European Wii Component cables and use them on your US Wii.
