I've noticed that. I imagine the manufacturers figure that with bluetooth, wi-fi, and EVDO (or whatever), people won't miss an IR connection.

But, it sucks for those of us who use the devices as remote controls. Personally, I'd rather have IR than FM any day. I can stream my FM stations, but you can't fake IR.

(Losing functionality as devices "improve" drives me nuts. I miss wi-fi ActiveSync, "draw" function in Pocket Word, and cursive transcription in "draw" in both Notes and Word.)

OK, I'll bite -- how do you get IR on an SD card?

Having to pop a storage card out to insert a card with an IR transmitter hanging off the top would be a major PITA. Defeats the whole convenience of using a PPC as a remote.

ir is a simple serial communication, if they can do wifi why not ir.
I would hope it be a combo with storage, and ir led's are tiny now, I think it could be done with minimal obstruction.

but agree, I should be internal, sometimes line of sight is preferred.

The more I see this thing, the more I think touchflo is cute and all, but I want to see how fast it is with a clean 6.1 ROM

Good point. I think they overdid the RAM and processor just to ensure this interface ran smoothly. Assuming the interface turns out to be more flash than substance (so far I'm mixed), it could be interesting to see if this thing flies without it.

People you miss one important point. Instead of Everyone saying, "Ooo, I want one" I vote we start a "Newest Sexy HTC phone, Fund" for No2chem, Lol. Maybe write and e-mail to HTC telling them he is a researcher for FTC and he needs the phone and tools and data to test if HTC is abusing it monopoly of the HTC phones like Intel does CPU'. He could get one early so when they come out we could have fixes before we even get our new phone. or maybe start a petition for him and some the other members here and at XDA to be paid BETA testers for HTC and/or Sprint, and Alltel/Verizon

I was thinking something similar, Black. I think all of us who get Touch Pros need to chip in to make sure no2chem gets one as well, as I'm not sure I'll be happy with a phone that's NOT running one of his ROMs.

DEFINITELY agreed. I mean, its not like I'd have RAM issues, but his builds are so much SMOOTHER!

The PagePool changer will work with the Touch Pro, right? I want a 10MB PP
