I rly need some help

alright guys Ive been here for a few days and Ive been reading on how to unlock and mod my sprint htc touch pro with a new ROM, i have downloaded the program for my phone for the unlocking... I connect the phone to the usb and my pc, the phone prompts me for active sync or disk drive so i select AS and on my pc the AS starts, says its connected and the last sync was successful so i figured im connected correctly now when i run the program it gives me a fatal error and asks me to make sure i am sync'd correctly with the pc. So I don't know if its the program or the usb cable... I'm pretty sure it isn't the program because 100s of u used the same one. I am not using an OEM HTC Touch Pro usb/charger cable so maybe that's the problem. if so i have to go buy one. I would appreciate some responses or feedback on this Ive been trying for days.
