A couple things.

Make sure the phone volume is all the way up....
And use the Audio Booster, I make a custom setting to adjust the sound to how I like.

then I just control the volume from my deck. The audio booster is an awesome equalizer for my stock deck..lol

I never have voice calls coming in too loud this way. I havent used pandora but with Groovefish and WMP it is awesome. (make sure volume in WMP is all the way up too and control volume from the deck).
I have the exact same car and I get a lot of interference (sounds like a whining) that is in tune with my engine RPM's, especially at higher volumes. The car volume is what adds to the whining sound, increasing volume on the phone does not add to the distortion which leads me to believe it is a poorly placed/shielded aux input on our car... What do you think... Do you experience this at all? Also what settings have you found best with the audio booster?

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/4.2.13567/1226; U; en) Presto/2.2.0)

ive been doing this since my ppc6700 days. on most aftermarket head units, there is a seperate AUX IN volume. maybe thats why some guys are having low volume issues.

Do you have the phone charging? That's what it is for me. When I have it charging and play audio I get the whining..and the more u accelerate the more it whines. I thought it was my cheap cable... but once I unplug the car charger it is perfect. And yeah the aux input I would bet is very poorly shielded.
As for ther audio boost it is almost like a V the way I have it set.

Re: Phone through car speakers via AUX...

I use a similar approach:

I bought the HTC adapter here for $6.79, which is very versatile.

http://www.amazon.com/Mini-USB-Heads.../dp/B002HNTHKM

It allows me to keep the phone charged with a car adapter/USB connector. I then plug this into the 3.5mm port. Best Buy had it for $6.99:

http://www.google.com/products/catal...wAg#ps-sellers

My cassette adapter plugs into this (you can also use aux in if you have that - my car doesn't), and I route the microphone up the driver's seat pillar where I have easy access to the button which activates Voice Command, and picks up my voice fairly well. In my case, the cable wasn't quite long enough, so I picked this up from KV Connect for $8.18:

http://www.kvconnection.com/product-p/km-24-10461.htm

So for about $20, I have the functional equivalent of a built-in system to take calls, as it would work if my car had built-in Bluetooth, which it doesn't. I mount my TP2 on the vent near the driver's side, and can see the display for phone information, incoming texts, GPS when I use it, etc. A little "cludgy" but it works pretty well. If the Audio volume is turned up too high, the caller will hear some echo, but at reasonable and easily hearable levels, it works just fine.

Just in case anybody is looking for a similar setup - it was actually pretty hard to find those cables and connectors.

I am looking for a similar setup, but I think I have all the connections right. I just can't get the mic on the phone to work. My Touch Pro 1 plays through my 2008 Mazda's aux port, and will route the text ring, the phone ring, and the caller's voice through my car speakers, but the caller can't hear me. Is there a setting on the phone I need to change?

I have the audio/charger/mini-usb connector hooked to the phone, with a charger and 3.5 shielded male/male cable from the adapter to the car.

Any help is appreciated!

Re: Phone through car speakers via AUX...

I have a 2000 Explorer and there is no aux input on those older units. I use one of those Cassette Adapters and it works great. I play music, use gps and take calls through the car stereo. WMP and the stock Sprint Music app works great.

What is the specific adapter that is plugged into the mini-usb port of the Phone? In my setup, I use the HTC adapter, and I plug my external microphone into this. If your phone thinks the USB adapter is a headset adapter, it will be 'expecting' the external microphone (which it appears you don't have) will be in use, so it turns off the phone's internal microphone. That's my best guess, anyway (assuming you're certain that the phone's microphone isn't working).

On my TP2, when this is set-up, in the notification area, there is an icon for headset, confirming that it is not using the phone's mic, and expects the external mic to be in use. Does the TP1 have a similar notification?

What if you just attach the 3.5mm audio cable between the phone and car? That should port the sound out, and I would think that the microphone would still work (although you wouldn't have a power source that way).

Let us know.
