Rumor mill is suggesting that Telus will be re-launching the Touch Pro2 that is compatible with their HSPA network (a completely separate phone).
Source: http://themobileninjas.com/2009/11/2...%80%A6in-hspa/ I'm assuming this will be the AT&T version of the Tilt2 which apparently would work, if unlocked. This would also mean that we'd score WM6.5 stock for it. Hopefully this will come with a frontal facing camera AND there's an upgrade path for CDMA TP2 users. Then again, since it's a business phone, I don't see why Telus would want to cheese off that sector. ----- |

Re: Telus HSPA Touch Pro2 Rumor~
The Telus TP2 already does HSPA. I speculated why the radio for the RHOD500 wasn't MCC locked was because of this exact reason; to allow for future changes to the Telus and Verizon networks in their effort to go the LTE route.
I don't know why they would re-launch with a different phone if the RHOD500 already does HSPA. |

It doesn't do the Telus HSPA bands it does the European HSPA I tested mine with the new Telus SIM from a Telus iPhone 3GS and got no signal. It didn't see the Telus network at all and mine is unlocked and works on Rogers although it doesn't see the Rogers HSPA either. |

Personally, I don't know much about phone hardware and all that, but I could see how a CDMA variant may need some specific radio / onboard chip that may take up space within the phone. Since the Tilt2 does not have CDMA maybe they had room for extra bands or something. I just made that up with logic of course. Seems like early next year we'll find out. |

Re: Telus HSPA Touch Pro2 Rumor~
If you listen to the interview with Olipro posted earlier this month, he goes into the bands issue.
He states the phone (chipset and accompanying software) is capable of HSPA bands, but that the antenna HTC is using is physically incapable of the appropriate frequencies. He said that he was able to unlock the bands on his device, but that it was a moot point until HTC starts using an antenna capable of all the bands. What I got from his explanation is that the phone is fully capable, and that the only thing necessary would be the use of a new antenna, so Telus could just release a new revision of the phone with the appropriate antenna. OH How i agree with you right now, I will be so pissed off, Telus better offer some type of upgrade path for the CDMA device or there will be hell to pay.
