Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
OK Seems I didn't put this in an order that people could follow so Lets fix this.
1. Do NOT delete your #777 connection 2. go to settings/connections/connections 3. Click manage existing connections 4. Click New 5. Enter a name for connection ( mine is vzwembedded) 6. Enter another name ( mines Verizon 3g) 7. Use default Cellular line 8. Under enter number use exactly emgsm.vzw3g.com 9. User name enter emgsm.vzw3g.com UPDATE: use this: phonenumber@emgsm.vzw3g.com 10.Password: vzw 11. check make sure its server asigned click finish. Go back into manage into manage existing connections & choose Auto; Thats it, you may or may not need to soft reset.

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
I am a little unclear of what you are stating here. However I am very curious. So is everyone else in this thread here. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=94581
Maybe you could clarify what you are suggesting be changed. You said: VZWEmbedded Log on: emsgsm.vzw3g.com Pass: vzw (I tried our regular password & it worked) Usually this is where under logon, you would input: 10 digit # @vzw3g.com Are you saying to leave the 10 digit number out and just use what you have typed above? Were you getting the voice only popup? If so, is it gone now? Please elaborate, as it's driving many crazy!

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
I had gotten the popups etc when I flashed my 1st rom. So I remembered on the stock rom there were basically 2 connections and NO popups. So I reflashed with the stock and wrote down the info. and reflashed to custom and got the same annoying sh***.
So on a hunch and here was my thought. In theroy all cell co's share towers. In order to callout a function such as 3g, you need proper protocals to access the data connections. You must have a password to get access to the networks 3gs sytem otherwise it doesn't work. I think what verison has done is to incorporate a seperate setting that hops different towers and not only allows access but to be able to read & keep the connections. I live between 3 sprint towers with their local office 7 miles away. Hence i'm in sprint zone. So by using the embedded connection it allows me to connect to 3g without being dropped like a big dog 24/7. This dropping issue appeared on regular connection after flashing the rom to custom before I put in the 2nd connection. So adding the 2nd mearly allowed me to connect to verizons network without hassle & annoying popups, data connections are screaming fast. I like to think of it as making an invisible line of site connection. Yes your data usage shows up. You can not connect without the passsword. I entered it like this: 1st screan called it: vzwembedded same as they had it 2nd screen just called it: verizon3g ( cell connection) next entered the: emgsm.vzw3g.com password: vzw Hope this helps any questions please feel free to ask. Update: remember under select networks it needs to be set to auto to allow the phone to swith protocals as needed. Quote:

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
Clrification to confusion:
This is a 2nd connection you need to add manually. If you are using jmz, you already have the 1st connection. It's under My ISP. |

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
I looked all over the web and yes thats what they say. But since this is a gsm phone it does work. Before you say it doesn't try it.
When 1st setting up 2nd connection you choose cell connection and nothing else. The GSM line is a DATA line, thats why this works. It's nothing more then a workaround they use. I wouldn't post it if it wasn't working. Whoops Ment to say GLOBAL PHONE. Not gsm Quote:

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
While sitting here looking for some info on the forum, I thought that since Verizon is using the GSM service in usa for data, this may infact be reason they are requiring data plans on these types of phones? Just a thought.

Is JMZ on ppc? I think he can incorporate these settings into his little program.

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
I added it in just as you indicated...we'll see how it works.
For clarity: 1. Go to settings tab, all settings 2. Select Connections 3. Select Connections again 4. Select manage existing connections (or add a new modem connection, either should work) 4. Click New 5. Enter Name - vzwembedded (modem= cellular line) 6. It will ask to enter a number...enter this: verizon3g 7. On next screen will ask for User Name: emsgsm.vzw3g.com and password: vzw Leave domain blank. Now on the main connections screen you will have three options: Auto pick, vzwembedded, and verizon wireless I don't know if this works yet... This is just a clarification of what I did based on Clueless 25's original post. Will see if it helps anything. |

Re: Popups & Getting stuck in 1x possible fix!
Ok, after doing exactly what was posted above, as jlbusch wrote it. I get:
cannot connect, No modem detected. Make sure blah blah blah! No data at all after making that change. Unless I'm doing something wrong. That is why I was asking for a more specific set of instructions, such as jlbusch posted. Is what he wrote, exactly how it should be input as you are suggesting? Not working for me at all, if so. ***EDIT*** Update!!! I reset my data connection in Comm manager after making above changes. Turned data off, then back on. Then I could connect again, but the popup notification returned within 2 minutes.!! I will continue to use my fix, until someone can come up with something better! Thanks for trying though!
