See, and THAT's often part of a problem. I know people who went with that logic on their TP, and found WM too frustrating as a whole.

The popular ones aren't always the best ones, especially with so many roms being catered to specific audiences. I've seen bugs in the popular ones, ones that I've also seen the solution for... but when a rom is popular, the other roms copy the reg values, etc, including the bugs of the "popular" one. It spreads like a virus and is sometimes counter-intuitive learning, opposite of what Dash said.

It leaves users feeling like no aftermarket rom is useable without any "surprises", which I hate seeing happen because its not true! You can have a totally predictable and stable ROM. Unfortunately, I've found the ones that have to say they are predictable and stable, generally aren't.

That just sums it up, now doesn't it?

Anyway- the point of this thread isn't to criticize. I'm hoping people who come in here looking for ROMs and feel overwhelmed will understand the situation. And hopefully won't be turned away when they try a few roms and can't find one that works for them.

Re: Too many roms!

It is never too many.
I appriciate someone sitting down and being creative create something that others can use. Then taking everyone's issues and sacrificing precious sleep and family time creating fixes and upgrades.
My busy life doesn't allow to do so, that it why I donate when I can.
I appreciate MightyMike, Juicy47, NRGZ28, Merdinh, Cmonex and many others for their hard work and ability to create something that perfectly accommodate mine and others needs.
So if anyone has something against too many roms, should be PUT ON PROBATION for some time, or ......

Re: Too many roms!

I think its fun to flash different peoples roms to see what they've come up with. I say bring on more. Eventually some new, unknown, innovator will come along and outshine everyone. Lets not dampen the creative and competitive flow that comes from these forums.

Re: Too many roms!

I will admit, I really do agree with most of your post. There are LOTS of ROMs and it can get confusing on which ones are the best.

But you gotta remember... We have LOTS of options here. Don't you think that's better than limited options? Some phones don't even have a custom ROM available!

By the way - I moved this to the upgrade forum.

I would have to disagree about this being in the upgrades forum. This is an opinion thread and contains neither ROM, Kitchen, nor Radio. But eh.
This post has been thanked 1 times.

Generally we try to keep things that specifically pertain to ROMs or flashing in the Upgrades section. The other option is in the Site Suggestions forum, but this seems pretty specific to the TP2.

Re: Too many roms!

I would just like to express my gratitude to those posting roms, and spending endless hours doing what i don't myself have the time to do. Also as I have flashed my TP2 six times since unlocked last week, I must say some more stringent testing prior to release would be nice as the functionality on most these roms is less than up to par. Other than that keep up the nice work and hopefully soon I will be able to free up some time and give back to the community.

Thank all y'all...

So then what's the point of labeling the forum "ROMs/Kitchens/Radios Only"?

Not to mention, this: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=78089

I thought this forum was for that stuff only, so it wouldn't become cluttered with all of the problem and question threads about the ROMs/Kitchen/Radios, thus making every real release ROMs/Kitchen/Radios thread easier to find
