Re: Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!

I just got my NEW replacement that supposedly has been "fixed".

Build date: 2-Nov-2009
Radio: 1.88.07WV
This and ROM haven't changed.
Hardware Version: 0004

Previous TP2 that was also a repl:
Build date: 2-Oct-2009
Hardware version: 0004

I guess I will have to run it and see if this problem has been cured. I just don't see what has changed.

Re: Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!

My refurb just came in. I don't notice anything different but I didn't expect to.

8/29 build date, all version numbers are the same. Refurb says NO but it clearly is, has 283 calls on the timer and it looks like is has someone's teeth marks around the charge port. Has a nice big scratch across the screen too. I'm sending this POS back and keeping my original phone. I'd rather be stuck in 1x that have this POS.

That makes me angry. It's unacceptable for vzw to send you some used pos, considerinf there is a known manufacturing defect with the phone. You paid good money for a phone that was supposed to work properly and you still dont have that phone. See what you can do to get them to replace it with a new one. Let them knolw that the problem isn't your fault and out of your control. You shouldnt be penalized with a used phone.

Re: Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!

I just got my TP2 a couple days ago to replace the 5th TP1 that I regretfully purchased in July. I am so happy I persisted in bugging them until they caved and upgraded me.

Anyway, I was having problems with being stuck in 1x, but the problem was that there was no or very poor evdo signal where I was. I am now sitting in a spot where my TP1 would lock onto 1x and not budge in hybrid mode and the TP2 is running 3g, so I guess I don’t have the problem. Also, the radio in the TP2 kicks ass, I am getting signal where I never could before.

Built 4-Nov 2009
Firnware 1.88.07wv
Software 1.18.605.12
PRI version 1.65.002

Re: Verizon Users Getting Stuck in 1X --- PLEASE READ!

Well, i am back to stuck in 1x. Interesting that before i lost, evdo i ran a speed check and it was only ~60kbs; 1x was also ~60kbs.
I am a little worried now. i was talking to vzw last night about a broadband card and she looked at my account. She asked if i was using my phone as a modem, which i have not. She was shocked to see that i have used 9GB of data halfway through my billing cycle. She said that she has never seen use like that on a phone.
Now i wonder if they have crippled my account or something because i cannot get a fast connection today.

Talk about adding insult to injury! Was that through Asurion?

No, straight from VZW. They cover the first year of warranty.

Of course my original phone has been perfect since I flashed back to stock 6.1. 3G has been stronger than ever. As soon as I send this refurb back I know I'll get stuck in 1X again. Either way, I'd rather wait longer to see if they do in fact make a hardware change that we can tell about. I have until next September to ask for anothe refurb so we'll see.

I would call and complain, or take it to a local store and show them what you received as a replacement.

Right now I'm just buying a new one every 20-30 days and returning the first one, instead of exchanging. I don't want to end up getting any more refurbs.

And they keep letting you do that? I'm surprised unless you're paying full retail.
