Re: dear chefs:nobody is willing to cook 6.1 anymore? ! the forum misses 6.1

At first read I thought that the OP was wrong and that he should not complain about something that other people do for free. Or that common sense would dictate he should probably just PM a couple rom makers instead of creating a whole new thread on the forum. BUT he has a good god-damn point to make.

If people were smart they would realize that THE MICROSOFT DEVELOPMENT TEAM fully admits 6.5 is **** and they fired everybody who worked on it and hired all new people to make WM7.

ALL WM 6.5 is...is a bunch of guys who didn't know what they were doing that Microsoft hired trying to get 6.5 to look as cool as the people at ppcgeeks made 6.1 look.

There are LITERALLY NO ADVANTAGES that 6.5 has over 6.1. The only thing that's different is how it's visually laid out, how fast or slow it runs is all dependent on how good the cook is and the processor speed of your device.

IE - There's a reason MightyMike stuck to 6.1 on the Diamond and Touch Pro. Because 6.5 is just a bastardized version of 6.1. The Tp2 has the screen real estate to JUSTIFY cooking with STABLE build of 6.5.

Cooks can obviously do whatever they want. And I support cooks who make roms with 6.5, but honestly nothing beyond build 21864 is even worth putting on my device because of how horribly it was built by Microsoft. I feel the OP's pain as there are only three or four roms that I have ever found to be consistently stable and usable on an every day for every task basis. There are a LOT of roms out there that seem like they're somebody's nightmare, yet the people who cook them claim that they are the best things since sliced bread. In essence, I feel the OP's pain, mainly because of the fact that a lot of people took after Microsoft in that they built a lot of roms even though they had no idea what the hell they were doing.

sorry dude like i said side by side comparisons and 6.5 i faster no question
maybe i have a messed up phone bc i had mikes 6.5 rom and notice a very large diff in speed of simple processes ex typing id be in a text on 6.5 and be done with my txt and the phone would still be catching up where on the stock rom i have no lag at all . . my phone performace was at like %68 on 6.5 and on stock im at like %52.

i also see no need for a 6.1 rom though bc my stock vzw rom is def solid but i cant do 6.5 just lagged to much for me

You are grossly misinformed. They have not "..fired everybody who worked on it". It was some of the WM7 team's management who has been replaced due to not meeting deadlines and other internal issues, not the WM6.5 one.

Remember, "Photon" aka WM7 has been discussed as in development since 2005. It's a bit behind schedule, which is why WM6.5 even exists. And lets not even pretend that you know who is on the teams, how they are divided up and who is working on what.

Also false. Obviously some of the importance of these will vary, but WM6.5 introduce natively on the device:
In fact, for the end user and consumer, WM6.5 offers a much better out-of-the-box experience than WM6.1 did. Going further, a lot of the changes in WM6.1 were internal and not important to consumers--it was more going after BlackBerry functionality than making an overall better experience.

So you like WM6.1 better than WM6.5. No problem, some still love WinXP over W7, that's fine, we're all entitled to our opinions.

But please don't go around spread false claims or suggesting that WM6.5 offers nothing new to people--it's one of their biggest overhauls in the OS in years and WM6.5.1 goes much further.

Well I dont have my TP2 yet (hopefully saturday) but on my Diamond Im constantly back and forth between MightyROM 6.1 and 6.5, and the best improvment iv seen in 6.5 is the scrolling is SOOOOOO much smoother and just feels better.
Is this also the case with the TP2?

no.... scrolling on the tp2 using 6.1 is just as smooth if not better than 6.5. imo, scrolling through messages (tf35) in 6.5 is laggy.

I'm not able to side by side comparison but my fresh stock Sprint TP2 rom seems to be running circles around both MR and ER Leo.. I did run the cleanup cab....Really seems smoother, esp using Opera. Anyone else feel the same? I'm sure the cooked ROMs will surpass the stock soon but for now I'm staying stock, just not worth it (to me) to have the weather on my start page... (but MR did seem to have better bat life, I didn't extensively test it though)

believe me , for the sake of this discussion ,I unlocked my virgin TP2, I flashed Mighty and energy ROMs today , I lost 2.5 hours from my study just to test them, and you know what ...................

I am back to stock ROM with sprint

I think , It is one of the snapiest stock ROMs sprint came up with !

I am back to 6.1, to the SPEED .
