SMS Vibration Duration

I was just reading a thread on XDA about VAlert & on some peoples TP2 it completely disabled the volume control.

The suggested fix is:

"To fix new HTC devices volume problem, create the following registry key:
HKCU\Software\VAlert, DisableMuteHook=DWORD:1"

but the next three posts said it didn't work for them.
