Re: Has sprint stopped EVDO data roaming?

I've been trying with roam only too and no luck. I was wondering about this because it worked just fine with the touch pro.

Are you sure? Sprint does not want their customer to be roaming if possible. The incentive for people not to forever have their phones roaming is to only give them 1x data. Sprint goes into negative cash flow when their customers roam. If people can roam with EVDO on Verizon, most of them will just lock their phones to stay roaming and it will cost Sprint a fortune especially how these PPC phones are very data intensive.

It was Alltel.

It is fairly well-established that Sprint does NOT have an EVDO roaming agreement with Verizon. I've never seen anything official from either carrier that says such an agreement exists.

Didn't Verizon buy Alltel?

Very sure it worked on the Mogul and the Touch Pro. Where I live has no sprint evdo for about 180 miles north, 290 miles west, 100 miles east, and at least 125 miles south. The only time I got EVDO is to force roaming in the above area. I live in the technological wilderness of northern Texas.

That's what I thought. It's Alltel, but I still can't figure out why this doesn't work on the TP2. I've been playing with the settings for a while now ,no luck

When I change from roam only to automatic, I get a EVDO signal for up to a minute. I tested it at 1000 bps. It then goes to sprint 1xrtt at 50 kps. The signal is there if someone can figure a way to keep it.

I noticed that too, I'll report back if I find a solution

check this out if you are using roam only. A small program to toggle between roam and automatic.
works so far.
