Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
This happened to all of my Verizon TP1s. What happens is the phone gets soo hot that the plastic touch portion of your screen delaminates from the LCD. See the image below. The glue that holds the 2nd blue line layer to the screen has come loose due to heat giving you that oil slick effect.
Heat sensors in the TP2 were supposed to stop this from happening. http://www.screentekinc.com/resource...-screens.shtml |

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
Well.. I'm pretty livid at the moment.. I'll post more details once I calm down, but basically the assistant store manager Andy Saldana at store #411 said Sprint is aware of the problem because it happened to so many touch pro 1's and they didn't replace it then because HTC wouldn't cover it and they're not going to with these phones either. He said "that's just the way it is"

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
definetly try another store. there are 2 stores with repair techs near my job, the 1 i usually go to was not there, so i went 2 the other 1 and he was saying @ 1st that if it aint water damage it dont look like nothing he can do about it, the manager was standing close by & looked @ it & said 2 switch the screen or put in an order for another. so go to another store. (this was my diamond.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
For those that have had the issue, how do you carry your phone? Holster, pocket, case? Is there any pressure applied to it, ie., do you sit it on it a lot?
I do remember having this issue temporarily on my TP. I always carry my phone in my pocket and on this particular occasion, was travelling by air with my son. When we touched down and got settled in, I noticed my screen had that rainbow effect from where the seatbelt was on my seat. I thought someone killed my dog. To my delight, however, it cleared up in about four days. |

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I am on my second touch pro and BOTH have had/have this issue. When I took my phone in because of other issues, I asked about the oily looking screen issue and a rep said it was because of the oil on my face seeps through under the screen and is a very common problem. If that true then thats frickin gross and BS!!!

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I had a similar issue with my Sprint TP2, was bad enough that there was just a "dot" that showed the X,Y coordinates. Bought it to a sprint store and they called it a "pressure point". Fortunately the TP2 is too new and they didn't have the tools or things to replace it so they were happy to order me a brand new one. Shipped it to the store within a day and I had it the next. Now I'm rocking a brand new TP2.
I must comment, the newer TP2 seems a lot more solid and all the keys and the unit itself seems nicer. |

11 day old tp2 & no rainbow fx. also have a 11+ month old tp & no signs of this. never had a screen protector on either. something to do with twisting/torquing the phone in a tight/rear pocket? |

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
Does anybody knows if HTC would want to repair "rainbowed" device under warranty (my screen does not respond to touch, i guess that rainbow efect caused it?)? Does anybody have any kind of experience with that?

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?
I sent HTC an email asking if this issue was covered. Here are the responses. I'm still in the process of talking with the support agent, so this hasn't been resolved yet, but I'm going out of town soon and I don't want to be without my phone while I travel so it may take some time still.
Inquiry Information Inquiry Type Inquiry Description Is this screen defect covered by the manufacturer warantee? (Please see the attached picture) I purchased the device 32 days ago. New Response From [ XXXXX (North America Support (Repair Inquiry)) ] Dear XXXXX, Thank you for contacting HTC! We apologize for any issues you are experiencing with your device and would be happy to assist. Warranty coverage would depend on a diagnosis by one of our certified technicians. From the picture provided it does appear that you might have physical damage to your screen and that would not be covered under warranty. Again a technician would need to diagnose the phone before we could give you a final diganosis. Please contact Customer Care at 1-888-356-2375 for service options, a possible repair quote, and to set up an RMA for repair if desired. Thanks for choosing HTC! We look forward to your call. Sincerely, HTC Customer Care 1-888-356-2375 M-F, 8am – 8pm EST I was curious why the tech thought I might have damaged the phone, so I asked the following: Quote:

So.. maybe HTC will take care of this for me, I'll post more information once I speak with the technician and find out the RMA process. |
