Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
 

Just thought I would let everyone know that I took my Touch Pro in for an insurance replacement due to problems. I was told that Sprint is trying to eliminate the Atouch Pro because of the high failure rate. For this reason they are not giving out refurbed Touch Pros anymore....but instead are upgrading people to the Touch Pro 2 instead. My new Touch Pro 2 will be available for pickup tomorrow :)

Since when do you take your phone into a sprint store for insurance replacement?

It not insurance replacement, it is if something is wrong with it. The tech is then able to give/order you a new phone and the new one is NOT to be another TP.

Actually when I was going through my last round of issues with the Touch Pro, I tried to call in and get it replaced and was directed back to a corporate store location to verify the failures before they replaced it under the insurance.

Short story is a lot of people were claiming to have issues on the phone to "upgrade" and then when the phone was received there was no fault.....

You pay insurance for lost/damage and also for break/fix. Break/fix are done in the store and if they can't fix it, they give you another phone. Its part of the all-inclusive insurance package if you have it.

if you have a problem with the phone that only pops up once in a while will the repair guy still trade you out?and if the repair guy misses it because the phone just chooses not to act up for him will he still consider your phone defictive? Because mine only happens whenever it want to, my TF3d will relaunch itself after standby,
since i upgraded to newer rom i now have to htc dialer up at the same time when im making calls even if i hard reset it still fks up. I also get that error send to microsoft or dont send screen sometimes....

if the repair guy can only see lets say one out of those three problems will i still be able to make the trade?

I gave my wife my (old) new/refurb (replaced by Sprit due to unfixable problem) TP when I used HER upgrade to get MY TP2 :twisted:

Has Sprint changed their insurance policies with Asurion then? Not sure you follow what I was saying:

Normally you get your phone fixed/repaired in store, or replaced if its a faulty unit (like you buy a phone and 2 days later it breaks); not an insurance claim. You have to call Asurion for all other replacements.

Am I missing something?

With Sprint now the only way they let you file through Asurions website is if the phone is lost or stolen. There's a message on there that says if you need it fixed or replaced take it in to a store. And yes, they are replacing it with new in the box touch pro 2's if its something that cant be fixed due to the fact that touch pros more than double the claims of any of the other phones they have and theyre trying to put them out of circulation. They will still do the replacement through Asurion if they cant fix it in the store but they give you a choice of a replacement... so far its been 2 bb curves, tp2, bb tour and treo pro. And I think its a given most will select the tp2.

I've experienced it both ways. If I call sprint, or go to one of their stores, they direct you to Asurion. However, I've had my phone replaced (under the insurance plan, not warranty) at Wireless Giant and they ordered the phone (presumably through Asurion) and then exchanged it when it came in.

Good news is, my TP's keyboard is on its out, so maybe a TP2 is in my near future.

anybody havin luck without insurance? I dont have insurance but they fixed my chrome and kb about a month ago for free and Im still having issues. Do you think they will just fix it again, say im SOL, or get me a tp2?

Sorry to sound skeptical but I find it hard to believe that Sprint would exchange a defective TP for a just released TP2. The TP is still on the Sprint website and when I had to replace my defective TP about a month ago I received a new in the box TP. I currently have an issue with the radio not turning on after a re-boot. This happened to me twice in a row yesterday. It sounds like a defective phone and I am going to take it to the nearest Sprint repair store to see what can be done. If it does need to be replaced I will ask for the TP2 and report back with my findings. Thanks to everyone who has alerted the rest of us to this favorable turn of events.

Trust me they are, the TP2 was just put on recon status 4, same as TP1 and all those other phones Brownhornet mentioned. Like its been said, the TP1 was Sprints most replaced phone, they want it gone lol

Getting my replacement TP2 on Thursday. I'm on my 5th TP and my screen is starting to peel. Took it into the Repair store so they could verify the problem and say that it needed to be exchanged and had it put it into my notes. Called 888-211-4727 after I got home, hit 4 then 0, explained the situation told them about the internal memo, transferred me over to Advanced exchange (no phone number, you have to have them transfer you). Told them the story again, they verified and are sending me my phone. Thanks a bunch OP.

edit: However I was told when I was in the store because they didn't have any TP's that I would have to call in to have it replaced. So YMMV with trying to get it replaced in store.

Yup its true!! A friend of mine told me about this yesterday. At first i was like....yea right, but then i called ashtin communications (sprint repair store) and i told them i was having problems with my touch pro. The guy at ashtin communications told me who ever brings in a defective touch pro with insurance will have 5 different phones to choose from for a replacement ....i dont remember what other phones he mentioned....thats because i was waiting to hear one phone in particular....TOUCH PRO 2!!!!

I was on my 4th touch pro!!! I think like 1 or 2 times i had to pay a $100 deductible.....and now i have a free brand spankin new touch pro 28)

i actually just got mine at the Ashtin communications store today. I am wondering if they gyped me? everyone is saying im supposed to have gotten a new in box touch pro 2 with all the accessories but they just gave me the phone its self should i go see about it tom or just be happy with the phone what do you think?

I think the only way u get a new one is if they are out of the refurbs...that is what they told me anyways. The guy gave me a new one since the computer showed them as being out of refurbs...but said he would probably get dinged for it

stopped by my local sprint repair center today and i am picking up my Touch Pro 2 on monday.

Not really surprising. What do you think happens with the phones people buy and return a day later. Im sure Verizon had at least 1 Imagio returned the next day ;)

no thats a lie, they will still give you a refurbished one!!! i just took my phone in and they gave me a TP2 but i had a choice whether i wanted to get the TP,TP2, Treo and a couple others

I went in to the store to ask them but did not have my wife's phone on me and they said they would replace it with a new phone. I called this number above and she refused to transfer me because I bought the TP from someone and not from Sprint directly. She wanted to give me assurians number for an insurance claim. I don't want to spend the $100 because I'm broke right now. I will try the store on Sunday and let you guys know what happens.

if you pay 7$ TEP on the phone they CANNOT refuse service on a warranty service.

Yes they can. Liquid/Physical damage, cracked screen, charging port damaged. They instantly tell you to go through Asurion

should be new, i went from the mogul to the pro for free and with no upgrade since i had so many problems with my mogul... they gave me a brand new pro at the store.


they only do this if you had A LOT of problems with your phone... i had to fight a little bit to get this done but it worked... i was sick of the mogul and the problems it gave me and told the manager i didnt want it

they have to upgrade you to a matching phone... in this case it would be the pro2

i had too many problems with the mogul. thats the only reason i did it. i had the pro replaced 3 times but nothing bad after the 3rd so i didnt go for that.
