Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
If you have problems and insurance, take your phone in and take whatever they give you. If they fix your original phone, then great! If they replace it, even better. But we should not try to force their hand on anything. The TEP is not an upgrade program, and usually the people who get the upgrades are the ones who purchased a phone at full price and used it longer than the commercial lifetime of the phone.
I have a friend who had been using a PCC-6700 for years. It gave out on him and when he went in they replaced it with a Touch Pro. He was very pleased, but knowing him he would have been just as pleased to get his phone fixed. We should all have that attitude. |
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
I am getting a kick out of everyone bashing the age of the memo, " a 20 day old memo" as if you only have 3 or 4 days and these things are passe and day old bread. Could it be that it takes more than a week or two to accomplish the goal of that memo? Sure they could have send revised memos since but gimme a break the thing is a newly implemented policy not a old memo that people are trying to milk.
Regarding the car analogy, the winshield on a car is hardly a reason to replace a car or a direct correlation to a phone, the transmission or electrical harness would be a better comparison. In which case auto companies will replace or repair if it becomes a large enough problem especially if you have the proper insurance. Heck even appliance manufactures will do what sprint is doing after 2-3 replacements or breakdowns. PLEASE GET BACK TO THE OT, anyhow check if the TP2 is in stock yet? |
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
Just went in to the Sprint store to have my TP looked at and ill be getting another TP for now. the TP2 was being offered as a replacment but i guess they are back ordered like the TP was. They said they are no longer making the TP so your bound to get a TP2 sooner or later.

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
Just be PATIENT.
Thats all I have to say |
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
If they replace your tp1 with a tp2 do have 30 days to decide if it will fit your needs? The reason I ask is I am thinking of going for the Hero but its not on the replacement list.
I know, how selfish of me.. Thanks |

Yes this does fall in the 30 day time frame. They may try to give you some hassle but it is still part of the 30 days. |

Yes it should reset. Meaning you have your full 30 days for making sure it's at your liking. After that you 1 year warranty should start from the date you got the new device. |

Yes, meaning if you get a replacement phone that is not the same as yo had then you have 30 days (must keep all packaging) to say if the phone is something you wish to keep. After that 30 day time frame is up that phone would then have 1 yr (-30days you've already had it) and it would be considered under warranty. I have had to go through this issue 3 times with Sprint and Asurion. And I was even surprised that they started the 1 yr warranty on the phone over for the replacement device and stood by the 30 day period as well. |

"Business telephone" exception The "business telephone" exception, which generally allows monitoring of calls and taping over an extension phone which is both provided to a subscriber in the ordinary course of a telephone company's business and is being used by that subscriber in the ordinary course of its business. This provision generally permits businesses to monitor the conversations of their employees, including personal conversations. Penalties: The federal statutes provide criminal penalties for unlawful interception of telephone conversations, including up to five years' imprisonment or a maximum of $10,000 in fines. They also allow for civil remedies, by which private parties are entitled to recover actual and punitive damages, together with fees and costs. States Requiring One Party Notification Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas Colorado District Of Columbia Georgia Hawaii Idaho Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maine Minnesota Mississippi Missouri Nebraska Nevada New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina North Dakota Oklahoma Oregon Ohio Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming States Requiring Two Party Notification California Connecticut Delaware Florida Massachusetts Maryland Michigan Montana New Hampshire Pennsylvania Washington And since i'm in socal: California Although California is a two-party state, it is also legal to record a conversation if you include a beep on the recorder and for the parties to hear. This information was included with my telephone bill. ...... now for the harder bits ...... California prohibits telephone monitoring or recording, including the use of information obtained through interception unless all parties to the conversation consent (California Penal Code Sections 631 & 632). There is no statutory business telephone exception and the relevant case law all but excludes this possibility. California courts have recognized "implied" consent as being sufficient to satisfy the statute where one party has expressly agreed to the taping and the other continues the conversation after having been informed that the call is being recorded. Violation is punishable by a fine of up to $2,500, imprisonment for not more than one year, or both. A civil plaintiff may recover the greater of $3,000 or three times the amount of any actual damages sustained. for me personally this is the important bits: California courts have recognized "implied" consent as being sufficient to satisfy the statute where one party has expressly agreed to the taping and the other continues the conversation after having been informed that the call is being recorded. This could be read as something like: Telco: "this call may be recorded for quality control purposes" hello, this is john, your _____ rep. this call may be recorded, can i have your [insert information here]" Me: "My name is blah, this call may be recorded for my purposes, my account # is blah." At this point if they do not object I HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO RECORD THE CALL AND USE IT. enjoi ^_^ |

Just as an addendum to the call recording laws:

Went to the Sprint Store in Orange Park, FL and the took me in right away and the lady took it back to the tech and with in 5 mins she came back out and offered me a Touch Pro 2 and the option of all those other crappy Phones (Snap, Tour.....) I about craped my pants when she said she had a TP2 that I could have. I was so excited :D For anyone with a touch pro looking to get upgraded, the key is (play dumb) and act like a customer that truly likes the phone just is plagued by faulty hardware. They will see that you are not a scammer but someone who has just had problems with the phone. Whatever you do DON'T GET UGLY! That will not help you get what you want. Truth be told if it wasn't for someone returning the phone (The touch pro2 they gave me was a 30-day return) I dont think they would have given\ordered me one at all. So I guess you could say I was lucky. FYI: I am a $30 SERO user with TEP and my plan was not changed. I still have my upgrade too, but I did have to give them back my TP1 (with the extended battery I bought) Oh well, I'm happy! |
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
sweet! i got mine from town center. you're absoluetly right. act like you love the tp while speaking in detail about it's problems. too many people start off screaming they don't want it and then sprint acts like they can't help.
|
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
My store will only order refurbished ones, which have been out of stock since however long. I gave up waiting and took another tp1

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
Went in to get my 6th htc touch pro and sprint replaced with touch pro 2.=D>
Location = Madison, wi. PM me with questions.... |
Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
FWIW.. received my TP2 brand new as a swap for my 6th TP(all legitimate issues.. freezing, overheating, touch screen dying).
In all honesty, didn't expect to get a TP2, didn't care, just needed a working TP. This was at a corporate repair center in N.VA.. the craziest thing is that 5 people were in there at the same time for TP issues.. 5..w/similar issues.. the thing is.. 2 openly discussed how they should be upgraded to a TP2, and how faulty the TP was. However I was the only one who ended up w/the TP2(last one to leave, one guy swapped his for a BB Tour), there were like 3 people who messed w/my phone before they said, how many replacements? "Talk to so and so, they'll take care of it, we apologize." And that was it. On a side note.. again FWIW.. Sprint is to get the HD2 in 2010, Verizon a week after that. Told to me by the stores manager who handled my swap. |

I tried going through asurion and they offered me a Treo Pro as a replacement and they would not budge on the touch pro 2. I declinded the offer. So now what? I'm in a bit of a jam because bezel is cracked just above the "up" volume key so I figured I go through asurion but no luck.

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
If u want to replace ur phone call ASURION . U have to be under 1 yr warranty to get replacement if ur touch pro is acting up .. thats what I did and ASURION sent me PRO2 next day. waiting on HD2 to come out will do the same. :headbang:

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!
I have done the same, I bought my TP around the end of july, the screen blacked out an wouldn't come on unless you beat the S@!T out of the phone an keep soft resetting it. I took it to the local repair store an they told me about sprint replaceing TP with TP2s for ppl who just bought them. So I called sprint an got the run around. I called HTC Corp. an they told me the same thing but you hvae to go threw spirt to get swaped. So i spent the next 3 hours calling sprint an being transfered around untill I got someone that would help. It still took another few days of calling customer service an raiseing hell about spending the money on a TP that has tons of known issues. At the end I got ahold of someone who seem to want to help solve the problem. They noted my accout to go into a store an buy a TP2 an let them charge the full ammout of the phone to my account. They they removed the full cost of the TP2 from my bill. I even manged to get my old TP swaped out for a new one that I think my wife is going to use.
Long story short if you have bought the TP with in the past year or so an you raise enough hell you can get upgraded to the TP2. Witch I think is only fair because of all the problems the TP has. |
