Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!

I ordered mine on the 22nd and it will be here on the 26th, Monday. I got a new car today and I'm getting a new TP2 Monday! Definitely one of the greatest two weeks ever!

Btw, all I did was tell Asurion my phone was broken and the claim thing said the Treo Pro and that that was totally unacceptable. They transfered me to a resolution representative and she offered Treo Pro and BB Tour. I said absolutely not, that's unacceptable. She then offered me the TP2 and said it would take 3- 5 business days because they weren't in stock.

Thanks everyone on these forums for being so entertaining and helpful, I appreciate. Now, I'm off to the TP2 forums.

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!

is there not a website that you can act like you are going to file a claim and it will tell you what phone you would get as a replacement before you even file the claim? yeah you might have to pay $100 but thats a lot cheaper and less hassle than dealing with some of these stores/repair centers.

I think this is what you're looking for. It keeps telling me my replacement will be another Touch Pro though.

Of course, I am under warranty and have the insurance.

Just got it two days ago, and to tell you the truth, I don't like it. It is too big, no home button, same operating system, no flash. The only plus I can see so far is the 3.5mm jack. Looks like the Leo has the home button like the Touch Pro 1 did. WTF? wheres my home button?????????????????

So If anyone wants to buy it from me, I am selling the Touch Pro 2 BRAND NEW!!!
If you're using TouchFlo, hitting the back arrow (next to the Windows Key) takes you back to your home screen. Or, for a more roundabout way, if you hit the windows key, there's your home button there too.

I was a bit let down by the lack of home button too, but have decided that, as I've gotten used to it, that it isn't as huge of a deal as I first thought. Just my opinion I guess.

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!

Sprint is on a big customer retention kick right now, which is why they are replacing SOME customers Touch Pro's with TP2s. Sprint issued a notice to their technicians a bit back about the constant problems with the Touch Pros. IF your TP is giving you hardware failure issues, as Sprint will not replace your phone just because you want them to, here is how to get your phone replaced with a TP2 without using the insurance, or paying a deductable.

First, call sprint and speak to a technician at tech support. Explain the hardware problems to them, and ask them to open an E-Ticket so that you can deal with this issue at a sprint store near you. Inform them that you do not wish to get another Touch Pro, but would like another phone instead. Don't push the issue of the TP2 at this point, as they can't give you a TP2 replacement by mail from phone support.

Once they do this, you can then go into a Sprint Corporate store (Not a third party store that deals with sprint products). Once their technician verifies that you are having a hardware issue with the phone, that it has not been damaged by falls or liquids, and that it was purchased less than a year ago, they will then offer to order you a replacement phone. They will probably offer you a choice of several other phones that are not worth anywhere near what the Touch Pro is (HTC Snap, Blackberry, Etc.) Inform them respectfully that you don't feel that these phones offer a comparable trade for what YOU PAID FOR. They should then offer you the TP2 as it is the only other phone that Sprint has that is adequate in features to the TP.

Don't expect them to hand you a phone right then and there though, as the stores are not even stocking the TP2s yet. They will order a phone that will take 2 to 5 days to get to the store. After the phone arrives, they will give you a call. When you get back to the store, they will expect your TP in the state it was when the tech's looked at it on the previous visit. If you drop it, spill something on it, etc....there is a chance they will send you off to insurance. Your phone will be new in the box, but don't expect the deluge of extras that came with the TP. No case, no headphones, just a pretty basic phone/charger package.

Hope this helps those who are having issues with their TPs, as they are problematic.

Hope this helps those who are having issues with their TPs, as they are problematic.

This is almost exactly what I did before even reading this.

I have had 4 replacement TPs in the past 8 months or so due to hardware issues. This past Sunday, the 18th, my newest one's (month old) keyboard went out. I went to the auto replacement online and ordered yet another TP. I received my brand new (not refurb) TP on Tuesday (I am always happy with their quick turn around). On WEDNESDAY, my ONE DAY OLD TP's keyboard would short out periodically. I started reading online and realized they may be exchanging for TP2s.

I immediately went to my local Sprint repair (3rd party) who said they couldn't do anything if they couldn't reproduce the problem - totally understandable. They even recommended that I call retentions and they would probably help me get a different model.

So I went out to my car and dialed *2. Talked to CS, who sent me to tech support. I explained to the rep all the issues and how many replacements I have had. He was nice, as was I, but said there wasn't much he could do if the repair store couldn't reproduce the problem.

I politely asked for rententions.

He was willing to forward me and I got on the phone with an extremely nice rententions guy. I explained that I couldn't continue to operate my business from a phone that kept crapping out on me. He was apologetic and told me rather than cancelling, that I should go to a corp store that does repairs. The closest is 30mi. I told him I couldn't get out there and I couldn't afford for my phone to keep going out. I told him I knew a non-repair corp store was just down the street. He said he couldn't force them to do anything, but that he would call them and explain my situation. I appreciated the effort and headed over there while he called.

Right when I pulled up outside he called me back and claimed they would be willing to help me find a replacement. I asked about reproducing the problem and he said it shouldn't be an issue, they would just help me out.

So I went in and talked to someone - not the guy the rententions guy talked to. I told him I was hoping for an alternative to another TP because of all the issues. He listened to my story patiently and told me they would work something out.

He started listing off phones.. first the Treo - I said I hated Palm OS and had problems with it in the past. Then he went on to the BBs, and I explained that I didn't want to pay for the BB data. He went on to the snap and I told him I didn't think it held a torch to the functionality and I wanted a touch screen. The guy looked around... sighed, and looked back at the computer. He finally said "I can replace it with a TP2."

He seemed aware that people had been doing this a lot, so I didn't want to sound like an ******* taking advantage of the system. So I went on to say "isn't that what I have" - Now, I am a very tech and mobile savvy person, but he didn't know that. He continued to explain that it was the new generation with better hardware. I mentioned that I was reluctant because of the issues I had had with this one and he assured me i wouldn't have a problem. I asked to see a demo and he said he didn't have any and went on to show me pics online. I figured I had toyed with him for long enough and said "sign me up."

This was on Thursday and I didn't want to tell my story right away in case it wasn't legit. But I went in today and got my brand new, in box, TP2!

Keep in mind that I was not rude or forceful to anyone, and I was genuinely appreciative because I have had true issues with a ton of the TPs.

I hope this info helps someone having a hard time running their life from a non-funtioning phone.

Pressing the red hangup button will also take you home too won't it?

It just minimizes the current app. If it's the only one open then yes it will take you to the homescreen.
