At first he was like huh touch pro then i said HTC touch Pro and he was like of ya here is the list. He also informed me that there is currently a shortage in the warehouse of devices. Exact wording was as soon as i hit submit i got an error stating the warehouse was currently out of stock. So if any of you are told this they arent lying. Im pretty sure unless the store has a TP1 in stock they will not replace it nor order a replacement TP1. This information has came direct from sprint corporate. The indirect i deal with is uber cool and never lies.

I'm a bit confused on why the TP2 being out of stock matters - can't they just place an order for a TP2 anyway and call you when it comes back in stock and gets there? In the meantime if your original TP is critically broken they could just give you a loaner phone, right?

Most likely it will not as the TP2 is wider....but really depends on how the cradle is designed. If there are "walls" to the left and right, it certainly will not fit

That is what I was assuming also. When I asked the rep on the phone to just place an order or put me on a waiting list they said they did not have that option. What their order screen had was the option to order now, and once clicked it told them that it was out of stock. They said there was no waiting list nor idea when it would be restocked.

So my only option was to check back in later to see if it was restocked or not yet.

They did order the replacement i was just letting people know that the warehouse was out of stock...I know how people complain when they say its out of stock but this time it really is and yes the dealer i deal with was able to order it, but no they did not have an eta of replinishment.

and remember as preiously stated it seems that ONLY repair centers are currently participating in the program.

Hmmm... damn. But they are replacing it with a brand spanking new TP2 in the box, right? Or are we all going to be waiting for refurbished TP2s to get back in stock?

When and what department did you speak with? They also required you to extend your contract too to get the TP2? Did they send it to your house or did you have to go to a repair center to pick it up?

Ice - When did you make that call?

Also, what complaints/problems did you declare with your TP1?

I can confirm, I looked at the screen in store when they were trying to replace my TP. The program only gave the one option to order now.

Question, when you guys took your phone to sprint to get them repaired/replaced did they actually check your phones or did they just offer another one?! Just curious!

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!

Answer for Radar369: They check like crazy in my experience.

We are devolving into all questions and no answers in this thread. If anyone gets a chance, I'd really like some feedback on the questions I asked in post #159 on the previous page. Thanks.

My touchscreen completely crapped out.. probably because the outer layer is peeling off at one corner, so I handed the store rep a paper list of my problems and she immediately told me that the policy has changed on these phones, then she went to the backroom to check on something. When she came back, she handed me my phone back and offered to replace it with the Snap or Treo Pro, or order another refurb TP1. So no, my phone was not "checked," but it's pretty obvious that the touchscreen doesn't work.

i told them that the phone overheats in my pocket especially when data is activated. i simply told them that im worried its going to burn me and they went and tested my battery. 15 minutes later, the tech came and told me that they were told to recommend against replacing the TP with another one and basically offered me any phone i wanted. naturally, i came for the TP2 :D

good luck!

Re: Sprint now replacing Touch Pro w/ Touch Pro 2!

Just give them the big list of all the crap you experience on a daily basis with the tp1. If you are not having these problems then you are very very unlucky. The day before I got a replacement tp2 they replaced my tp1 with another that had virtually the same issues mine did. cept the kb was working again.

Common tp problems:

1. Battery sucks ballz
2. Heating issues bigtime
3. Dropped calls
4. laggy keyboard input/broken keyboard ribbon
5. touch screen laggy/nonresponsive/bad response to touch
6. voicecmd crashing
7. bluetooth sound/connection issues
8. delayed ring
9. slow.. slow.. slow.. internet non/functional browsing. The mogul was better!

Did I leave any out?

oops camera issues. Sometimes the camera takes minutes to load and the time from pressing click to picture taken is way too long.

I walked in and told them my keyboard wasn't working again, this is my third touch pro. They put me on the list and I waited. When I got to a person they sat me down and the first thing the guy said was, "We can put you in a Treo Pro or an HTC Snap." I told him that neither of those phones met my needs, but I couldn't keep coming back to the store with issues either. I asked about the Touch Pro2 and although I got some pushback at first I did eventually get him to order it.

That was Friday. Today I practically tripped over the box from Sprint on my way out the door. I received a NIB TP2. The only thing that sucks is that I've had to activate it and tweak it between breaks at work. :)

That's awesome! I kinda feel bad for the folks that were not able to get there upgrade/repair replacement, but you know what they say about the early or lucky birds lol. I received a refurb today, that ended up being defective. With no raising of the voice or throwing a tantrum, I was told that I should be receiving a new in box version if I can hold out till Wednesday. Looking at the Youtube reviews, I'm not really getting a whole lot extra (besides a better chance at a functional phone)since the NIB only comes with a charger and screen protector (no case/headphones)

You are right about that. Not even a microsd card. That last part will sting for people getting this as a first time phone, but it's not that big a deal. I just like having the box because all my phone's usually end up on ebay when it comes time for an upgrade (excluded cases such as this one of course) and the box is helpful. I really like this phone. It feels solid and well-built, neither of which I could say about my Touch Pro (stupid squeaky case).

they actually checked mine. and didn't find anything wrong but as soon as i told them it was my 4th TP, a refurb and i had gotten from them a month earlier, the tech immediately talked to the manager and then told me i would have a TP2 in about 5 days.

Lets face the facts here though for a second.....

FACT: It went out of stock so quickly because the policy was abused by TP1 owners to get a free upgrade instead of its actual purpose which was to reduce the amount of exchanges on TP1's for whatever various reasons(a lot of which are valid, like keyboard/screen failure) in legit circumstances.

I doubt there are THAT many people who would abuse this. Sure a few but to deplete the inventory that much...no way! It's all in the manufacturing and shipping process. It takes a while to get anything in the pipeline for nationwide distribution when drop shipping overseas...and a few bad apples are not going to have that significant of an effect on the amounts that Sprint have purchased.

I also attribute this to idiot technicians that just picked the TP2 for every TP1 that walked in their door without considering other avenues(of which there are quite a few)...

Window Mobile, touchscreen, Slide-out QWERTY keyboard...what other avenues are there - "quite a few"??? Which ones are you taking about? What else besides the TP1 and TP2 can be offered with these specs?

And if that's the case what happened to the Sprint Ready Now program? Or is that dead?

blazin-asian, or anyone else who knows. im in michigan and there are a lot of "authorized retailers" that service sprint customers, but are not actually sprint owned. does that make a difference when taking the phone in for a possible swap, even though the place is authorized for repairs? is there a better chance of getting the TP2 if we got a sprint owned store rather than an "authorized retailer"?

Anyone know if Best Buy is doing the same thing? I gave my TP in last week for repair or replace.

Also, anyone know why BB says it takes 2-3 weeks to get an answer and Sprint stores seem to take care of it right away? I'm kind of annoyed since BB charges $9.99/month for the warranty where as Sprint charges $7. Of course BB's has no deductable so that may be why.

Screen stopped working, called customer service. They tried to send me a touch pro (original) and I tried to bring up this so-called policy of giving an option for a phone to upgrade to. She told me that if I had 3 or more replacements they would give me a choice of phones. Long story short, when she went to set up the replacement, there weren't any TouchPro's in stock, so she gave me my choice anyway! TP2 in 2-3 business days baby!

So, out of curiosity (especially for you WisdomWolfX), did they keep your original TP, or did you need to send it back when you got the replacement or what?

I have 15 days to ship back my Touch Pro (sans battery and back) or I'll be charged $50-$200. The envelope to ship it back came in the box when I got the new Touch Pro2.

Actually at the store the TP2 was NOT on the list for acceptable replacements. I would have been stuck with the Snap or another TP!

This sucks.. I have gone through 4 refurb touch pro's.. All the other ones had the typical TP issues along with the keyboard dying. The most recent one has the same stupid issues but the keyboard works fine so I can't take it to a sprint store because they will think i am lying. I tried to use the sprint self service tool but it tells me that I have reached the maximum amount allowed. Can I call sprint customer service instead?

I got my TP2 yesterday from the Sprint repair center. It came brand new in the box. I have to admit, its wayyyyyyy better than the tp1. I didn't know the differences would be that dramatic, but it is, I also get a much better signal now, before I would get 0 bars and missed calls, now I get 1 or 2 and my calls go through. The tp1 was nothing but junk and should've been recalled.
