I'm in oakland, and was able to update the prl by hand by dialing ##778 and going into epst. I have a vzw tp2. but, I've gone to two different metropcs shops, one being a corporate store, and they can't the ESN into the metro inventory.

when I go into EPST, I dial "000000" for the security code, so I think I already set that MSL if I'm not mistaken.

however, I can't get the phone to come up on diag mode by dialing ##3424, nor ##3424#, nor ##3424##. nada. I was thinking that would help houdini load the drivers necessary the phone to be recongized, because I was told the tp2 wasn't being seen by houdini when the usb was plugged in.

My guess is this: at the beginning/middle or end of Houdini running it won't say "PASSED" until the MSL is verified at 000000. Since we are tricking it with TP info, it probably isn't writing that part correctly and so it fails it at the end.

By us doing it manually it does everything else and when it finally checks the MSL and sees that its at 000000, then it passes it and therefore passes the ESN into METROPCS inventory.

Let me try and do this on my TP2 I just got, if it works anyone in the Bayarea and I can point you to my source as well.

I am in the same boat w/ a vzw tp2. I've already unlocked the phone to the point of flashing mightyrom, putting in a tmobile sim card, and getting the metropcs prl loaded via EPST. to get into epst to make changes, I dial ##778 and then enter "000000" for the security code, so I think I have in effect metroflashed the phone by hand. when I dial *228, I can update the metropcs roaming list, and 611 takes me to metropcs.

the problem I am having is that houdini can't see my phone when I plug in the usb. I took my tp2 to two different metro stores, one corporate, one is my buddies. at my buddy's store, he plugged the usb in, and the phone was not recognized by houdini.

when we tried to dial ##3424 to put the phone in diag mode to load the com drivers, nothing happened.

its kinda like:
get the official drivers from houdini since we're going to be playing with it
install them, plugin device, and go install drivers from that folder while in diag mode, it installs the rest of the drivers then.
get msl
change msl
update prl

houdini should see it find now. supposedly. though i have my doubts, as the only difference was my code, however it may need that right at the begining to access the phone - very likely - and you may need to check in device manager for which com port its on. have fun !!

Custom ROMS will not work. Most of them do not have that Diag program built in. The walkthrough was written up for Sprint Stock ROM.

The Diag Program is CRUCIAL to getting this to work. I will say again, IF YOU MISS A STEP IT WILL NOT WORK.

so would you suggest I flash back to a stock vzw rom, get it metroflashed via houdini, and then I can flash up to a custom rom?

it would prolly be easier if someone who has a vzw tp2 w/ stock rom could bring up the diag mode by dialing ##3424, because I was never able to do so.

I searched my tp2 and there is no dmrouter.exe. can I just copy that executable over into my tp2 windows folder? anyone got it for a vzw tp2?

okay, after poking around, this is what I have found. the vzw tp2 does not come with dmrouter.exe, so dialing ##3424 will do nothing. I flashed up to mightyrom, and it didn't have dmrouter.exe either. I had to download dmrouter.exe, copy it over to my storage card, and run it with nOpen.

in order to get it metroflashed, it seems the best thing to do is to flash your vzw tp2 to the sprint rom, since that's what the metroflash guys are trained to do, dial ##3424# the before they connect up HTC phones via USB to houdini. getting those guys to start dmrouter w/ nOpen will prolly not happen.

this however does not guarantee success. they were NOT officially trained yet, and houdini will not support flashing this phone officially - i spoke with support while i was playing around at the buddies shop.

it took one look at my prl [ 02003 ] and said **** that i've a million updates [literally i took a screenshot] and ended up dumping this verizon prl in the phone.

according to houdini flash was successful, but phone does not dial, going to check out the guardian bit now, and finish the guide. currently not finished so IT SHOULD NOT work lol - at entering the wap addresses.
