Re: First Touch Pro2 on MetroPCS!

I tried and I gave up, I ended up putting a stock sprint rom back on mine with no issues.

metroflashed fine and successful, phone worked great, but the metropcs internet connection setting wouldn't stay on metropcs. so when I got home, I did a hard reset, and now VZW settings come back. the SID is back to verizon, as well as the prl. changing the SID settting back to metro and updating the prl doesn't help anymore. phone won't call out anymore, and I get a recording, but I still get metropcs when I dial *228 or 611.

I could get it re-metroflashed, but this seems like it'd be a royal pain in the arse to have to do it everytime after flashing to a new rom or doing a hard reset.

I emailed cmonex about the problem, hoping to get some answers.
ok i have a feeling i'll be editing this post a few times... anyway gonna give that a shot hard reset coming right up

[edit 1]

i think the last hard reset i did left the prl as is - currently the 02003 - but after houdini it came with the 01003 series for verizon. just an fyi

[edit 2]
p.s. op - mind changing the guide to say something like:

First you must get the MSL code, which is usually given from sprint. Unfortunately it's like pulling teeth. BAFTools MSL Grabber unfortunately does not work. The only other option is to use a third party for software. (I used CDMA Workshop) You WILL need 3'rd party software to write MSL as 000000 back to phone for houdini to do its job unless your carrier unlock code is already 000000.

[edit 3]

ok this is a big one... might actually justify its own post - but anyone whos made this successful would love if you'd once over the settings:

I mean that i've spent 47.50 so far in attempting to put the phone on a carrier it wasnt meant for - annoying - however still cheap

[edit] worst case pay for the one month at metro which comes with the flash and try it somewhere else
considering making my tp1 work if i cant houdini it monday to working status

[edit2] figure shouldnt be hard to get them to release the dec/esn since i never got it working in that worst case

Re: First Touch Pro2 on MetroPCS!

gah im at the store right now - re-houdini'd the phone - successfully
the only error message i had to push ok to was the alert for AWS not being compatable with this phone so it would only be able to roam in these markets - im in los angeles so it shouldnt matter... WTF

[edit]

ok success!!!
problem: msid + mdn did not update correctly with houdini. Need to call and ask what it should be. Input correct values with ##000000# [only shows those two - easier for some] and input what they say. MDN should be your 10-digit# - msid is sometimes the same, in my case not at all.

Re: First Touch Pro2 on MetroPCS!

you can update the prl (preferred roaming list) by dialing *228, and then 2 for the programming roaming list option.

if you don't get metropcs when you dial *228, or 611, then you will need to update the prl manually. you can do that by dialing ##778 or ##778#, for verizon or sprint branded phones, and dialing send. that will bring up EPST, which will allow you to browse your memory or memory card for the latest PRL file. the latest that I am aware of is 02003, then after you've updated the prl manually, you should get metropcs, and then dial *228 and reprogram the PRL.

hey shagpal - yeah - thanks man, however only *2 -> option 2 is needed fyi - i should double check the prl but i think its still the 02003 posted by OP

[edit1]
ok now that i know the phone's working via voice - trying to get wap/etc going. so:
Number to dial = #777
Username: yourtendigitphonenumber@mymetropcs.com
Password: metropcs
does not let me auth. Going to add username/password to each of the proxies and report back.

Ive seen a few variants on the password also - will be refreshing this thread occasionally, so if anyone knows what this should be for los angeles area plz post!

Re: Still no data connection for Touch Pro 2 on MetroPCS

okay guys, I wanna report that I flashed the radio to 2.05WU, which is the unlocked 2.05 on the sticky forum here...
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=93865

the new 2.05WU radio flashed fine, just remember to put it into GSM only first before doing that flash.

after flashing up to the latest MightyROM today, I am still having isp connection setting being automatically set to default. so, just outa curiosity, I used QPST to make a small change on the banner. when I tried write the change my VZW TP2, I got the following error from QPST:
"NV Write Errors: (NV Item): "NV_UE_IMEI_I" (Status): "NV_READONLY_S".

my sense is, this, whatever this or it is, it's what is giving us problems with our mobile web/ip/internet connection automatically resetting to default.

I'm almost positive it has a guardian file resetting your stuff.
