Re: Graphics acceleration coming with Verizon 6.5 update! [unconfirmed]
not to hijack, but I started a thread late one night about a possible tweak. I'm don't do video, so I don't know much about all this, but Ya'll do. maybe someone can figure something out, as I couldn't find any references to it on the intertubes.

Don't see the whole driver as big deal. As long as I can watch Divx/xvid in CorePlayer, I am good. And I was able to do just that without a problem.

It is a hardware issue. We have the hardware inside out phones. But we do not have the drivers that utilizes the hardware. DO this simple test. Uninstall your PC video drivers and let Windows load its standart video drivers. Then browse around thew web with your preffered brower and even open you email and scroll down you email .You will see a very eerily similarity to our Pro1,Pro2, touch,Mogul, tilt, etc. Just try it. Then you will completely understand why its critical to have these drivers. Another simple test you all can do is next time you head over to any Sprint or VZn store. Pick up the Treo Pro. That runs on WM 6.1. And browse the web with it and launch the camera. You will see that its 100x smoother. PIE on it is incredibly smooth! Almost make me cry when I use Pie on Treo pro because I always thought one of the problem why PIE is such a terrible browser was because its just a old browser with a old core on it. but to my amazement, it runs beetr than SAFAri on the Treo pro. Why? Simple. Treo pro utilizes the hardware acceleration. And that phone is old. |

Re: Graphics acceleration coming with Verizon 6.5 update! [unconfirmed]
@Exil3d I have used 6.5 loads, I upgraded from a Touch to the Touch Pro, then to a Diamond, and now to a Touch Pro 2. Every device before this I had 6.5. From what I'm being told, it's not just optimizations, it's full blown drivers.
Another thing, the CDMA variants of TP2 use the 7600 vs the 7200...could just be licensing with the 7200 that kept Qualcomm/HTC from playing nice (remember the whole lawsuit thing in regards to the 7200? hence why some carrier TP's use the 7200a--the gimp(er) version of the 7200). So who knows...(and yes, I know that the 7600 is just the GSM+CDMA variant of the 7200, which is CDMA only and the 7501, which is GSM only).

Enabling hardware video acceleration in addition to the CPU I would think would draw more power, not less. I also doubt this Verizon/driver story. Will ask around Tues in NYC. |

I suppose, but seems more like speculation at this point since no once can actually demonstrate this on these MSM chipsets.
