Re: G-Mail Exchange Service Reliability?
This is what ive noticed with my experience. During the day i would say from 9am-10pm pacific standard time it works perfectly. but during those offpeak times its really buggy, maybe thats when they do their maintenance. thats why most of the time i say it works perfectly.

I use an exchange server and everytime I check Activesync it says "connected" to exchange. It certainly sounds like Google doesn't have it fully functional and their server has problems handling the connection. *at least this is and always has been my experience.

What is causing your issue is Activesync defaults it's sync schedule to only sync "As items arrive" during peak times. Off peak times are scheduled to sync at a timed setting. you can set what defines Peak and Off peak by clicking on the link at the bottom of the schedule screen. Hope that helps. |

on a side note to un confuse you, it shows connected because its waiting for that signal to come in at anytime but its not actually transmitting data. it only starts to transmit data when you receive an email, then google sends a signal to activesynce, activesync receives that signal on your device because you have it turned on, then active sync starts to receive and transmit data. The magic is happening when that signal is being sent from gmail to activesync. |

Re: G-Mail Exchange Service Reliability?
Ah, ok I misinterpreted your question, and thanks for clearing up my confusion on Activesync. Obviously, Google has some work to do on their end to make this more rugged and reliable.
Just for giggles, I changed my delivery to "As items arrive", and so far, knock on wood, I am getting e-mails as soon as they arrive in my Gmail inbox. We'll see how long that lasts! |

Re: G-Mail Exchange Service Reliability?
As long as Exchange is setup and ActiveSync is currently set to "as items arrive" AS should say connected. Like P-Slim said its waiting for a signal to PUSH data.
The only time that it will not say connected is if you are using the phone or txt where it uses 1X signal for voice. Voice and data aren't supported simultaneous with our technology. Google may be using the time period from 9pm-6am to upgrade and tweak things as that is usually off-peak for most phone users. Afterall it is beta. Personally I don't see this service substituting MS Exchange. If they enable Outlook to connect to their servers as Exchange - for free - then this product will work well. |
