Question Re: A short return to the 3d drivers (and promising results)

I have some questions on the usage of 3d drivers...

What actually uses them? Does anything that's say built into the phone take advantage of them? Does this speed up the touch flo, or make video's play faster?

I was under the impression that the program needed to be 3d aware in order to utilize the driver, or am I mistaking?

While on the same topic, didn't need for speed include 3d drivers into this game? Just out of curiosity, did someone rip them from the game and make them available via .cab all of the time?

Does anyone know if the same kind of work is currently happening for a 2d driver too?

Just curious...
