Standard USB runs at .5A. The device can charge at a higher power.

The concern is when charging your phone off a COMPUTER. Since you are overdrawing the 500mA a computer USB is set to output, you could limit the life of or damage the computer USB circuitry. It is unlikely but possible.

If you're really worried about that there is a setting you can uncheck that won't allow the device to charge while its plugged into the computer.
Go to Settings>All Settings>System tab>Power>Battery
and check the box.

the downloads from his site dont complete from opera mobile 9.5 it downloads a portion and says complete but install fails.

ya I did. it would download 16kb and say it was complete but its supposed to be 67kb. I also tried via Verizon data connection, and over Wifi. I was able to download it and install it using pocket internet explorer.

After installing, you have to turn it on by using the settings tool in the start menu under all programs. See the setting comments above.

You need a different power control panel or taskbar replacement that displays in 1% incriments. See the Sticky from Mighty Mike .
