Re: TV Out Registry Hack

My homemade TV-out cable works fine on my TP and TP2... I had to remove that pin as well...
it was time-consuming, had to bend it back and forth 100 times with a paper-clip tip, before it finally split loose!

I used the USB Y-adapter from the HTC PPC6800, and spliced it into a standard 6-foot RCA cable (red, white, yellow)
The instructions are here somewhere in the TP forum

Yup, I got it out, but I also got out the pin on the top right. I didn't see the pins on top so I was just sliding pin 4 back and forth. Unfortunately that's the charging pin I knocked out. TV-Out works great though!!! HAHA

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

Those suggestions are all well and good, but not everyone wants to make their own cable or remove pins. Do we have any ideas why the registry hack doesn't work on a TP2 when it works on a TP?

Why mess with making a cable, removing pins or registry hacks? I bought a generic HTC video out cable, with charge port, on ebay for $12 and it works fine. Just plug it in, no registry nonsense.

I ordered mine from hong kong, and didn't have any charges from customs, I don't know how it works in Australia, but here's a cheap video out cable:

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

guys,

The cheapest, simplest way to have your cake and eat it too is to use an Exacto knife or similar to cut the trace to to pin 4 (audio detect on the internal PCB. I think this is the blue wire but am not sure so please verify) going to one of either the 2.5mm or 3.5mm jacks on the inside of the HTC Multi-adapter. This preserves the audio adapter functionality for both the mini-usb and one of the barrel jacks while leaving the other barrel jack for video out. This mod is free (assuming that you have a 2.5mm or 3.5mm to AV cable) and still lets you use the adapter for hands-free and audio operation. Both the TP and TP2 recognize the adapter as an audio adapter until the video cable is plugged in and then happily switch to video.

Rocking the adapter body back and forth diagonally to release the glue joints and then gently prying the cover open gives access. If you want to get really fancy you can mod the cover and install a micro switch to let you change back and forth between audio and video with just a couple of soldered wires on either side of the cut trace but I just used the 2.5mm port for video and the 3.5mm for audio. I can't show pics because I only have one and I glued mine back together but a little patience and a simple voltmeter (to identify the trace) and a knife/nail/razor/sharp object to scratch the trace is all you need. If you want to undo the mod a small dab of solder will return it to normal operation.

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

So, since the TV out is an option in the settings for the Touch Pro 2 (on the Verizon version anyway), should something like this be all that's needed to get things going?

I did this also a while back for my tp1 . The same cable worked for TP2.

Check it out IGO8 on a 42 plasma lol

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

Ok fellas I used this method posted here by isdnmatt and it works flawlessly. Just cut the blue wire in the multitap and away you go.
