TV Out Registry Hack

Some of you may have seen the $3.65 + Registry Hack = TV Out thread at http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=59236&page=27

Quite simply, by changing the registry and using a cheap pair of ipod video cables and the HTC multi-adapter, you can get TV out working on the touch pro and other devices - except the touch pro 2. Audio works, but not video.

Since this is a TP2 specific issue, I think this is worth raising here. Any ideas how the tp2 is different in this regard from the tp?

I removed pin 4 from my CDMA Diamond adapter and used my Zune video out cable (3.5mm to RCA) plugged it in and selected TV Out in Settings. Watched couple of movies already...so it all works very nicely actually.

I have heard a rumor that if you switch your yellow and red jacks (because apple switches them) that your video will work fine...give it a try.

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

Does the headphone jack on the CDMA TP2 support video out, at least in hardware? It would be pretty awesome if that were the case.

I did try that first with my Zune cable...no luck tho. Maybe if ther was a specific cable from HTC, but I doubt it.

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

No - swapping cables did nothing (except swap/diable the audio).

Oh well worth a try, at least the rumor is put to rest.

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

Video Out works with my TP 2 from Sprint but I have an OEM cable. YouTube works and audio also works (you get to see the album covers on screen), Power Point slides are not very sharp and are a bit hard to read. Funny thing is that Sprint disables "Sprint TV" when the Video Out cable is connected... Bummer... so much for the Kids watching Disney Channel on a bigger screen.

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

I am wondering if the Mogul adapters would work with the hack. I am waiting for the cable to arrive, so I cant try right now. I know the Mogul wasnt TV ready, but its what I have. I tried my local Sprint and Verizon stand and they didnt have any Pro adapters available. Thanks.

*Update*

Well just actually looked at my Mogul adapter and it is 2.5mm instead of 3.5mm, so when my cable gets here I still cant try it. lol. Anyone have a full picture of what Touch Pro adapter I need to find?

Re: TV Out Registry Hack

Here is a pic of my hacked connector with pin 4 removed, didnt have to take the connector apart just a pin, some wiggling and some patience.
