Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

I got my screen protector on the screen the first time with no dust.

I took off all my clothes. Dont forget your cloth is lint.

Then I turn on the hot water in my shower and stand near it.

I wet my hand and run thru the side and back of the TP2 to get it just a little damp.

Then I do the mental preparation and peel it off and put it in and thats it.

Of course it helps if you dont take your new phone out from the plastic sleeve first.

You sure you're talking about applying a screen protector to a phone here?

In the past I have struggled with screen protectors, and got so mad I almost broke a phone over it. So hopefully this can prevent a few people from wanting to pull their hair out.
I have heard of many different methods people use, but for me this has been the easiest and has had the best results for me.
The pictures are of the stock screen protector I just applied to my Touch Pro 2.

Here goes:

-Get a bowl or a cup of water.

-Add a few drops of dish detergent and mix into the water.

-Go into the bathroom and turn the shower on hot to get it steamy to drop any dust to the floor.

-Remove the battery to be extra safe.

-Scrub your fingers with rubbing alcohol to remove oil from your fingers.

-Make sure the screen is clean and dust free.
.
-Peel/open the screen protector.

-Dip it lightly into the soap solution..

-Lay the protector on the screen.

-You should be able to move the protector around enough to prescisly position it.

-Since it is wet there should be very few air bubbles if any, and if there is they will push out very easily when wet.
-In a short time the protector will adhere in place.

-Let dry overnight before putting the battery back in.

-If there are any imperfections they will go away completley in a few days, unless there is dust under it.

-You may notice some light spots/haze/white film in areas after the application, but any spots will go away in 1-2 days.

See the pictures I took, you can barely tell there is a screen protector on at all, not one air bubble or imperfection.

-Good luck!

Extra tips:
**dont go crazy with the solution, just dab a little on the screen and dip the protector lightly and shake off excess before applying.

***Also, I would suggest taking this preventative measure with your moisture sensors.

1- Cut a small piece of paper just a bit bigger than the size of the moisture sensor.
2- stick that to a piece of clear tape.(see pics)
3- Cut out around the paper leaving a little tape on each side of the paper.
4- Place the paper/tape over the sensor.
*never stick tape directly to the sensor because it will pull the sensor right off when you try to remove the tape!
Now you are left with a protected moisture sensor just in case something like this should ever happen to you!!
Your one crazy fella puting water purposely on your phone. not very smart, yes you have maybe done it a few times, but some amature is going to put to much water and ruin their phone. I mean it isn't like your puting window tint on, you don't need to get it wet. the steam in the bathroom though is genius. I give you props on that. All anyone has to do is get a credit card or something like that, make sure your screen is clean and just peel about an inch of the screen protector back then place that on the screen and take the card and work your way down and it will unpeel the screen protect and put it on the screen perfectly. No bubbles and no chance of getting your phone wet.

Wrong!! if the sticker has bled then that is all she wrote. It doesn't matter if there is corosion inside the phone or not. Don't give out false info and that person shouldn't have put water on their phone. Anyone who listens to the OP on how to put their screen protector on is making a big mistake and is doing it at their own risk. I mean seriously think about it....PHONE...WATER....UHHH .... Your right, Its not FOOL proof...LOL.
If you read the instructions and use common sense It isnt going to cause a problem. I mean come on people..Obviously the point isnt to get your whole phone wet, just enough on the protector to let it slide around a let all bubbles move from under the protector.
This is not new news on how to get a screen protector on, many screen protector manufacturers use this method in their instructions,
for example I have attatched Best Skins Ever application instructions, they use the same method to apply protectors.
The point of this thread is to share my experience on which method has worked the best for me, and this method has by far been the easiest and has always had the best results.
Please by all means, if you dont think you have what it takes to read these instructions, and make this a safe experience, then dont use it!!
For the many who had the ability to follow the instructions and got great results, Kudos to you!!

Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

Awesome guide. I have just done it right now with water and a little bit liquid dish detergent and it worked perfectly with moving the protector to its right position! I will leave it today drying and hope that it is still working tomorrow

Matix

Thumbs up Re: [Guide]Perfect application of screen protectors with pics.

Hey there,

First post, and I HAD to come on and say thanks for this EXCELLENT write up Hypnotic2010. I didn't even know the TP2 came with a screen protector; I was actually looking into purchasing one, until I came across your post - so thanks for that. Your instructions were great, and I would like to add a few subpoints, and share my experience for others.

I brought my phone in midway through my shower - so it was only in the bathroom about 10 minutes total. You don't want it exposed for too long; and again you can block the water sensor.

I used gloves so I didn't leave any fingerprints. I put a VERY thin coating on the screen; then dipped the protector (sticky side) into the solution. I shook and wiped off any excess so it was a thin, but solid coating.

For me, I guess I didn't use enough soap, because I wasn't able to move it around freely; I had to pick it up and realign until it was straight.

I was freaking out about the spots/haze; but as Hypnotic2010 reassured me, it would go away. My pictures are from the first night, approximately 8 hours after application. By the time I got home the next night, about 20 hours after application, it was about 90% perfect.

By the time I woke up the next morning, approximately 32 hours after application, it was 95% perfect. When I got home that evening, about 45 hours after application, it was 99% perfect. I have one super small air bubble (my fault), but it looks perfect. Many thanks for this write-up. I put on my last screen protector in 2007, and it took me about an hour; and it was far more frustrating.

Not only did you save me a ton of time, you saved me from purchasing one unnecessarily. Many thanks again; good luck to all the rest.
