Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

Re-opening this question because I work in deadzone (for Sprint at least).

Touch Pro, phone works fine at home and in most areas. It's just at work that I get the @#$%#@$@ Cannot Connect: Dialed #777 every 30 seconds.

Unlimited data and roaming so I still use the connection to check email and stream Pandora through my iPod Touch.

I don’t want to turn any functionality off – I just don’t need or want the incessant reminders that stay up until you click them off. I generally communicate with my wife and friends through texts and since I keep the phone on silent, I rely on the visual message icon so seeing the #777 message pop up constantly is really annoying.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

I have a similar problem, but I have my data service disabled. Does anyone know how to prevent an HTC Touch Pro from attempting to connect

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

It amazes me that so many people can read such a simple question and not understnad what is being asked.

Lets put this in terms that everybody can understand:

Many of us are fully aware of our connection status by virtue of knowing the coverage area we are in. We have NO DESIRE to disable the connection just to prevent being warned that it is not available or having troulbe staying connected, we simply DO NOT WANT TO BE CONSTANTLY SHOWN A POPUP TELLING US THE STATUS OF THE CONNECTION. We are asking if anybody can tell us how to fully disable the status message regarding our data connections, no more, no less.

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

I for one understand the question and it seems to me that no one knows how, thus the reason for no one giving a solution. I have disabled just about everything I can think of that updates automatically and it still shows up. I do feel though that this could be a network issue and not a phone issue. It would be nice to not see it though.

The notification functionality is part of WM. We just want a way to make it go away. I don't want to deal with a notification every time my data connection changes state. Network problem, phone problem, large steel building blocking the tower... who cares, I don't want to be notified that my device is dialing, has dialed or has been disconnected from *777

I know you said you got a fix for it ,, but from my experience having it set to global caused this problem for me when i put the device on cdma only the message stopped appearing ... So just in case you get this problem again give that a try

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

Yeah, I find that notification very annoying as well, every time I am surfing and then get a phone call I get the message (CDMA)

I know I don't have data when in a phone call, but I don't need to be told.

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

No the error message is not there. On the Sprint TP2, data is disabled untill a program calls for the data service to be turned on then when the service is not needed the data connection is turned off automatically. As for why the 'cannot connect' notification comes up it has to do with the data connection being activated. Mine only seems to occure when I have the phone on the charger overnight and when I unplug the charger and wake the device in the morning the notification is there. During the day I don't get the notification unless I am in an area I don't get the Sprint network(roaming).

Re: Get rid of the Cannot Connect Dial:#777 Popup?

Just found something that I think causes this issue. If you go to contacts/all contacts/updates and events(contact with clock near the head icon), click on menu and go to data connection settings. Uncheck download data when roaming. So far after I have done this, I do not get the pop up anymore. Its been going fine for 3 days now. Hope this helps.
