Re: How to stop defaulting back ot the home tab

I installed SPB 3.5 (just released) today and on my phone (Sprint) the screen remains on the keypad. The "Bug" is not an issue. Is it just me???

Changing the timeout value seems to have no effect on the only real major problem I have with the phone. Whenever I turn the phone off or the screen times-out, I power back on to the HTC home page (after I utilize S2U). This is very annoying, especially if I am playing music in the car or the gym. Seems like an incredibly bad design decision and something that HTC/Sprint needs to fix.

Yes changing it to any number has no effect on the bug.

I read somewhere that there is registry changes to turn off the lock option when on activesync exchange, I was wondering if someone has those change is a cab form.

I haven't heard of this but will do some digging here and at XDA.

So you are saying SPB 3.5 fixed your bug issue?

This will allow you to bypass the device lock due to security policies for Microsoft Exchange Server.

First enable the box again to be unselected in Device Lock:

Navigate to HKLM\Security\Policies\Policies\00001023

0 = Enabled; 1 = Disabled

Then go to Settings/Personal/Device Lock and uncheck the box.

Then install Zenyee.com Stay Unlock.cab and soft reset your device.

This program will prevent the lock to be activated again.

Agreed. I recommend you also send your opinion to HTC.

They will open a ticket and WILL respond.

I created a ticket today. I'll let you know what they come back with.

Again I don't think this has anything to do with locking the phone. I never lock my phone, and have this happen all the time. It did it out of the box even with no aftermarket programs/tweaks installed yet.

Also, I don't understand why people still use s2u2 or any lock at all, other then to secure the phone (not like it's much security since SR would get you in). I always just hit the sleep button on my Titan and I do the same with my TP2. The phone's screen/buttons are inactive whenever it's asleep...

For the Sprint TP2 it never happened to me until I added Push Email and my security policy for Microsoft Exchange Server required me to place a Device Lock on it. This bug has been around since the days of the Touch HD and most everyone who has had it have all been from having to use the Device Default Lock. I have hard reset my phone twice just to see if the bug still existed without using the device lock and it didn't. I am not talking about S2U2 or any other lock program either.

Just try it and test it and it works! Finally the most annoying thing I had on this phone has been resolved. I use a private exchange server and the security was more of a nusance than actual need.

I'm not sure I want to totally disable the lock since I am using this with a company Exchange server. Are we sure this is the only solution? Is this an HTC bug or something with WM that might get fixed with 6.5?

I wonder if any of the ROM cookers can verify if this bug exists with Manila 2.5 and WM 6.5?

If you mean SPB MobileShell 3.5, then that is why you are no longer experiencing the lock / back to home page issue. This only appears to be happening for those using TF3D. SPB MS replaces TF3D are your default UI.

Not really a good fix IMO. Costs $30 if you wanna use it long term. Besides I think SPB 3.5 looks rather cluttered, just didn't care for it. Plus it's just as big a memory hog as TF3D which used to be the reason a lot of people used it.
