Anyone else experiencing this?

Isn't that the point of a qwerty keyboard - you dont have to stare at it to type, so you can look at the screen. Anyway, yes the spacebar on mine and a friends are both a little soft so it is hard to really tell if not looking at the screen sometimes.

As far as the D-pad comments - guess I am odd, I never used the dpad on the TP1 for anything... cant stand the idea of a directional controller when you have a damn touch screen. That is why I moved from my MotoQ to the Touch Pro to begin with. Then again, I am using a WinMo 6.5 rom and can click and hold on anything to get a context menu to do all the things people mention having problems with since they cannot select items without opening them.

What do you mean about less memory? I keep seeing that comment, but what memory are you and other folks referring to?

Re: Official Sprint TP2 Pros and Cons thread...

I am holding TP1 and TP2 and I have both phones in my hand right now, click start/setting/system/memory, I see TP1 memory as follow:
Storage Total: 368.12MB Program Total: 200.25MB
Here is TP2 memory:
Storage Total: 239.00MB Program Total: 183.33MB

This is such a step back. TP2 should have memory equal or more than TP1. It also bothers me with "reset" button, we have to slide out battery cover in order to get to "reset" hole. TP2 has a lot of available space outside, why this silly phone designer does not put "reset" button outside the battery compartment? TP2 should comes with at least some kind of case/pouch or holster, headset but it does not. What happens with this manufacture, do they want us to hold the phone in hand even when we're driving? This is crazy. BTW, I am packing and ship it back to Sprint tomorrow. Bye, bye TP2. Enjoy yours!!!

Whatcha drinking? Vodka here lol

Yes, it DOES have the same RAM, it is just calculated differently, and it page-pools some stuff to give it the nice apparent speed increase. Like Opera staying resident and pre-fetching pages hourly (which there is a hack for if you really think you rather have a bigger number showing for memory). Then there is the issue of the TP1 counting the 32 megs that is Shadow Ram, which means the video ROM is loaded into RAM by the BIOS because RAM is faster. It happens on both the TP1 & 2, but the TP2 doesn't count it, hence the 256 meg of RAM, and the TP1 DOES count it, hence the 288 meg of RAM. But that RAM is NEVER accessible on either device.

The belief that there is less memory is a RED HERRING, it just ain't the case in reality.

It's like the oldest PC's, the 8-bit 8088's and 286's, which could only address 640k of RAM. Then some came out with 1 meg, because they realized that they could shadow the ROM into the extra RAM, and read it from RAM instead of ROM for a speed increase. Old trick............

Re: Official Sprint TP2 Pros and Cons thread...

Most pros and cons listed are subjective but mine are :

Cons

Lack of a flash (this is fairly big to me)

No FM Radio

no DPad ( minor inconvenience but I used it quite a bit to move down through emails to delete emails quickly without reading)

NEW ONE* I have a leather sprint holster with the magnetic flap that comes over the top.
When I slide the phone in vertically (top up) the display comes on . I then
have to make sure to remember to turn the display off again. This is somewhat annoying and I did not find any setting that explained this . I thought it was a sensor but cannot determine what. I can place in holster upside down and display stays off. Comments welcome.

Soft reset button access by removing cover ( I don't get their reasoning here)

No hands free headset included ( new laws against using handhelds in school zones make
this nice to have to make calls)
Wm 6.1 enough said

Screen loves fingerprints (small issue but smudge resistant would be nice)

Tones on some numbers when using dial pad is inconsistent (no big deal)

PROS:

Screen size Yea BABY !!
Sound Quality Yea BABY!!
Tilt Keyboard (SMS and Mail buttons on keyboard)
2 speakers and mute button on back
I prefer the weight. Makes it feel like more than a cheap plastic toy.
3.5 Mm jack for headphones means I can use almost any pair in a pinch
BATTERY LIFE !!!!!!! (huge plus)
finger friendly menus out of the box
Did I mention Battery life??

Overall,,a nice upgrade , especially for the physical aspects of the phone. A bit pricey for the difference in the TP1 and TP2 but it wasn't enough to stop me from doing it. That screen is just worth the upgrade to me . I have many friends with the Iphone and I get sick of watching the nice big screen compared to my TP1. Also sounds great without headphones , another big plus.I just wish they had included a flash. If anyone can tell me how to fix the display issue coming on when I holster it vertically, please PM me. Thanks

Does anyone have a quick working cab for soft reset shortcut until we have the Energy Rom ?

The guy who spent $600 and didn't get an extra cord...that's who! Unlike most people, my computer/office is not in my bedroom where I keep my phone at night (often times on on-call and must answer calls at all hours).

I have several USB cords laying around too. Thankfully its a standard connection...good thing this wasn't the first device I've ever purchased. It's frustrating Sprint assumes we don't need them, cause we already paid for them through other manufacturers/devices.
