Re: Official Sprint TP2 Pros and Cons thread...

there was this same talk when the touch pro was release. People kept saying it wasn't that much of an upgrade from the mogul and wasn't worth it. The screen wasn't big enough Sprint shouldn't have changed the back cover and so on

Every phone on the market has pros and cons, there isn't one what is going to be liked by everyone.

You shouldn't be buying a phone based one what people say about it. everyone uses their phone differently. I mainly use mine as a media player and listing to music. So I'm looking forward to the bigger / tilt screen and the 3.5mm jack. That alone is worth is for me.

I did not realize that I used the D-Pad for so many things...so I am trying to get used to the lack of one. I hope 6.5 is more finger friendly...I hate using my stylus, though because the screen is so large I use it less frequently. So far I have to say this phone is a winner.

I gave my son my Diamond and we did an ESN swap to put it on his number. After that he did not have any internet. Was on the phone with SPRINT for 2 hrs to fix his Diamond, they told me to take it to the store. I did that today....while I was there I brought out my PRO2. WOW, you should have seen all the Sales people and even the Tech's wanting to look at it and touch it. Made quite an impression on them...most of them LOVED the phone, they had only seen it in pictures. They all wanted to know how I got it already..... I just smiled.

Mod Edit: Removed negative remarks

The light sensor on the TP2 does automatically adjust the backlight on the screen to dim or brighten depending on lighting conditions and it also controls the backlight on the QWERTY keypad

This works on the TP2??? That's good to hear... that app replaces the hardware keyboard driver, I was worried they put in a new HW keyboard driver on the TP2 and broke this app.

I Love this app. Much better than AEButon plus.

Re: Official Sprint TP2 Pros and Cons thread...

Has anyone tethered the TP2 yet, does it tether the same way the TP1 does or better (example: The TP1 always switched between evdo to 1x everytime within the first 5 min. of tethering.) Did HTC fix this problem.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but it appears the only negatives so far is:
1. Not much of a upgrade from TP1 for the money
2. Some do not like the color of the tflo theme
3. Maybe less memory?
4. Loss of flash
5. Magnetic stylus gone? This could be an issue, but did HTC come up with a better
idea?
1. I think its a MAJOR upgrade from the tp1. Much faster doesnt freeze up (yet)
2. I dont mind the color
3. Seems teh same
4. never really used it
5. doesnt matter really

So how much memory does the TP2 have less than the TP. I saw one spec sheet that had the same was it wrong?

So far, I'm very excited about this new device. The TF3D interface is fast and responsive. I'm trying to figure out how to live without a D Pad as well.

For instance, when you need to select an item to delete it etc., it just opens the item. With a D Pad, I could just scroll down towards it. Now the keyboard has arrow keys which address this, but not much use in portrait mode. sometimes, i'd like to be able to scroll down. In screens where text is required in portrait, a keyboard appears on screen, and it too has arrows. Therefore, it is just a matter of getting used to it.

Glaring annoyances I see immediately:

1. When I text someone, I get a pop-up window stating my text message was sent. I really don't need this.
2. The only way to turn on the screen is by pressing the power button on the top of the device, pulling out the styalus, or sliding out the keyboard. I noticed this is a pain when I want to just make a phone call. I'd like to be able to wake the screen up by pressing the "Phone Send" hard key and have it go straight to the dialer.
3. The USB and AC power adapter are used togeter. Therefore, I can't have a dedicated wall charger and a USB hooked up to my computer at the same time without going out and purchasing an additional USB cable (come on Sprint...$600 bones for a BUSINESS Device...how about letting the user connect to our computers without unplugging our wall adapter)!

These 3 issues, are NOT deal breakers. Please don't take this post wrong, this phone is AWESOME!!! The screen is beautiful, the keyboard is top notch, the features and additional software on the phone are superior, web browsing is no longer a chore, but an enjoyment, speaker quality and noise cancellation is nicely done.

Don't let my "annoyances" sway you against this phone...it is the best phone I've had to date!

I'm hoping someone will be able to hack these away (minues the cord issue).

Cosmo
The disable sent notification messages is an easy fix. Just search for it here. It's an easy reg edit.

An extra USB cable? You can purchase them for < 1$. Not a big deal IMO.

Re: Official Sprint TP2 Pros and Cons thread...

Has any on tried the conference call yet? I read earlier some where that tmobile restriced it to only 3... can sprint do more? and the picture mail app. is it the same as the tp? I was looking in the manual and it shows sms/mms to send pics instead of sprint pic mail. and if it does use a new app does it send right away unlike the tp and dm
