Re: Touch Pro 2 and Gmail: is it reliable?
I was having some issues with Gmail syncing as well but I think I figured it out. See my thread here, hopefully something in there helps you - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-...ows-6-5-a.html

Re: Touch Pro 2 and Gmail: is it reliable?
new mail in gmail's inbox will always show up as a new 'unread' message on the phone. the glitch is somewhere in the communication of the "Read" status. some could blame gmail since ms has been in the game far longer, and it was google that decided to re-invent some things.. (or maybe it was our patent system forcing the re-invention of things not broke)

Re: Touch Pro 2 and Gmail: is it reliable?
I have to correct my statement. I thought I'm using POP3, but actually the default server was IMAP in the HTC's mail program. AND, although there's a setting to archive mails after pull from POP3, there's no such setting for IMAP on the gmail settings, means google server won't archive the mails automatically after our phone pulls the mail from IMAP. I tried to setup POP3, but because google uses different port settings which isn't easily changeable on HTC email program, I can't really use that.

Re: Touch Pro 2 and Gmail: is it reliable?
the 'proper' way to use imap with gmail is to set the phone to delete messages off the server, that way they are removed from the inbox, but stay in the archive.
obviously that doesn't seem very reliable, so I just stick with pop. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 and Gmail: is it reliable?
How do you setup Gmail on an TP2 with WM6.5.x?
I can only set it up as IMAP4.

the same way i've been setting it up since the mogul, sashimi provisioning files.
anyway, I just looked and you should be able to manually set up pop by choosing "other" and putting in the server info yourself. |
