Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

For some reason, my touchscreen is locked up... I can't control ANYTHING with the screen.

Anyone else have this issue? Suggestions on a fix?

And please don't give me the typical, "hard reset" answer... I'd like to avoid that at ALL costs. Mainly because I don't want to, also... I can't back anything up because it's completely frozen.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

try navigating with the directional keys on the keyboard. if not then a hard reset may be your only option. why didn't u setup a myphone or exchange sync service?

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

even after a soft rest its still frozen?? what did you install?? if you just mean it happens sometimes, well, it just happens sometimes lol

also, its not unlikely that your screen is Done... happens all the time, where the digitizer or something goes out.. if thats what happened, well nothing were gonna tell ya will fix it..(sorry)

and you can backup everything still even with a frozen screen, just use MyMoblier from your PC and you can control your device still(should u need to back things up and hard reset)

and I love your "dont tell me to hard reset" thing... especially the "i cant back things up if its frozen".. hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but Most of US back things up BEFORE we have issues lol then theres no need to worry at all if we come across issues..

just a suggestion, if/when you solve your issue-learn to do all your backups then go ahead and make them... then youll scoff at the idea of a hard reset because it takes less than 10min for a full restore..

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

Meh, either way, for some reason, I HATE to hard reset. Just sucks. With or without backing things up, seems to take me 2-3 hours to get everything back to how I want it.

Something I just noticed. That "water damaged" tag on the side... looks a different color than I remember it. Funny thing... there is NO way I have water damage from the time it was working, unless it came from being outside in my short pockets on a hot, humid day. Literally... went to the zoo today... everything was fine. Came back... everything was fine. Grabbed my phone from the table... locked up.

I have TEP... water damage is still covered, isn't it? Also... hope they put me back in a TP2... I might be the only person who still loves this phone. I don't want anything else... not even the EVO.

Mine looks a bit "pink". When I look in the light, the screen looks a bit "oily". Has to be that. Problem is... I can't hard reset, so I'm a bit worried returning it to Sprint, when they see all the tweaks and software I've added. I can get to settings and then to factory reset, but it won't do anything.

Isn't there a way to hard reset, but pushing certain hard buttons, like was the case on the TP1?

Another thing I was going to try, but probably a bad idea... hair dryer the sucker... see if it "dries out". Literally though, I did nothing to get it wet... I'm baffled as to how it could've happened. Only thing I can figure out, it was a hot day, it was in my pocket. That doesn't seem possible, since I've done that many, many times, on hotter days, but can't figure anything else out.

Other suggestions as to how to hard reset, with just actual buttons? I can't seem to hard reset as the HTC site says, With the device turned off, press and hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see a message on the screen. Release the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons. Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset. Once the restore screen appears press Volume Up to restore the device to its factory settings or any other button to cancel. Once complete press Volume Up to reboot.

Wirelessly posted (htc Pocket PC: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 8.12; MSIEMobile6.0) Sprint T7380)

I say try MyMobiler or EveryWAN to manipulate files with your regular pc to see if you can fix your issue. Otherwise you are gonna have to hard reset. If the button combo hard reset doesn't work then I say put it in bootloader and flash the shipped rom or a custom rom if you are unlocked.

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

Hard reset and it's stuck on the orange screen that says, "Tap screen to setup phone"... too bad I can't tap screen to do anything.

Here's hoping with TEP I'm able to get another TP2, I don't care if it's refurbed or not... I just don't want a different phone. LOVE this phone. NEED WM. C'mon, Sprint... don't let me down tomorrow!

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

Unfortunately had the same thing happen to me about 2 months ago. Out of the blue touchscreen basically became totally non-functional even after hard resetting (I also ended up on the same screen you're stuck on). No water damage. I had a custom ROM and lots of tweaks so getting it reflashed to stock ROM and re-locking with HSPL and all without a working screen was pretty interesting...but needless to say, I got it all done and brought it in (I have TEP) and they replaced the whole device for free. Think that's probably your next step, best of luck.

Re: Touchscreen Lockup? Frozen?

Yup... just had probably the best experience I've ever had at a Sprint store. Walked in, told them what it was doing, said I have TEP and I really wanted to keep the same phone. He asked the techs if they had screens in stock... said no, then he told me ordered me a new TP2 and it would be here tomorrow to pick up.

That worked almost too good. Thought they were going to try to put me into something else.

On a side note... he went on to tell me I should step up to Android and get the EVO... said it is one sick phone... said WM has too many issues. I told him that might be my next step down the road, but until then, I love my TP2 and want it as long as I can have it.
