yeah i dunno.. i didnt do the radio unlock to flash different radio.. ive never been one to really flash new radio really.. just to the telus one that worked good for sprint TP1 in my area and alot of other peoples..

i dont know what Open Office is even but i went over there and clicked on it for download to see if maybe the have a booster running because theyre using their own servers obviously..

that 147mb file sat at 65kb/s for me and said about 30min to dl.. i cancelled it after a min.. i just wanted to see if it could be duplicated..

are you overclocked on your TP2?? at what speed if so

Re: Can these tethering speeds be correct?

Sounds like a damn good [tether] connection.

Mine personally goes slower then ****. It takes me about 45min to download 100mb, though I am also using an old beat up PC, so I am sure that does not help matters any.

Either way though, a 4-6mb/s connection is damn good for a tether connect.

I might try again later to see what kinds of speeds I get during the evening as well. It seemed almost too quick to be honest.

goto "speedtest.net" it's one of a few non-bogus test sites I know of.

You must be hooked in somewhere else.

Using my broadband which tested at 5mbps (Which is slower than usual), I can download openoffice at bout 300KB a sec, which for a 148MB file should be about 8 min.

To download the same file in 4 min, you only need 500-600KB a sec, which is more than possible on EVDO, you might have a good connection with OO servers or something.

Re: Can these tethering speeds be correct?

the speeds have gotten faster here in chicagoland I've noticed.I was able to watch a 20 min youtube video on wp7 in IE and standard definition (480p) on my tp2 and haven't had a single rebuffer.

Re: Can these tethering speeds be correct?

it's impossible...
you are somehow connected to another network.

sorry to be blunt but the facts are facts
see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evoluti...TIA-856_Rev._A

the fastest ev-do.a can signal is about 3Mbps, and that is in ideal conditions in a lab.
real world? I usually see about 1.5Mbps up and down

Re: Can these tethering speeds be correct?

TMobile sim in Sprint TP2? If that's the case as it appears, you max out at edge speeds. My guess is you were inadvertently piggybacking or misread or misinterpreted the speed.

Re: Can these tethering speeds be correct?

In certain areas, T-Mobile is very fast. Seen some speed tests where download speeds are around 10-15mbps. So yeah, your download speed is correct .
