Re: amidst all the hating, a nice article about the touch pro 2!

The weakness of the TP2 isnt the features. When the Windows Mobile decides to work, the phone is a powerful device. Unforuntately WM runs like crap and it takes ridiculously long to accomplish basic tasks. Dialing, texting, running programs.. all slow as molasses.

Yesterday I wanted to forward an email from my phone.. unfortunately I was on the text screen and the phone decided to freeze. I had to take out the battery and reboot the phone. In that time, I booted up my company laptop, connected into the VPN, and fired up Outlook/Exchange to get the email.

The TP2 really needed HD2 power to run decently. As it stands now, the phone is an embarrassment IMO. The only thing keeping me from spend 600 bucks on a new Droid X is the fact that LTE handsets should be out sooner or later. Dont want to drop all that cash and be a "G" behind..

I used to try to defend the TP2 when all my friends break out their iphones and android devices, but now I dont because I just get clowned. Usually Im like, "Big deal, I can do that too!" and then I try to do something and everyone's standing there for 30 seconds with a "Well?!?" look on their face as the TP2 struggles to run bing or perform a search on Google Maps.

android blazn build is breathing much new life into my ageing tp2, maybe you should check it out for yourself. the most recent build runs really really well.

This is exactly it...It doesn't matter which ROM I run, what tweaks I apply, etc etc, the TP2 is still slow and buggy...the only way to really make it faster is to disable Sense lol. Beyond the embarrassment as my phone being capable, but too slow to do anything, it's frustrating when I get lagged out of the most basic tasks, like replying to a text message.

If Sprint got the HD2 or if HTC made a TP2 with a Snapdragon or Hummingbird, I don't think I'd ever need another phone. The TP2 would be the ultimate phone if its hardware was up to par IMO.

coming in from iOS4, I would sacrifice all the customization and hacking possibilities of win mo for a solid and fast OS like iOS. I am not familiar with Android (is it still lagging a bit?) - unfortunately the substantial price hike to obtain an iphone or android powered phone just doesn't justify it at this point (me being on SERO of course has a lot to do with it hehe)

but at the end of the day TP2 is a great phone spoiled by sluggish software, and guess who's the culprit? big surprise... an OS by M$.

I personally think you guys that are having problems are suffering because you are probably running sense and 6.5 which slow the TP2 down. If you run a tweaked version of 6.1 everything works great. It's funny to me how many people complain about the "bloat" in shipped roms and they say they want to get away from it by flashing a custom rom but when they flash some custom roms they "bloat" it up even more with software that requires more memory and resources than what they had!
Lean and mean will work folks!

Well said!Took me a while to figure this out rebloating my own custom roms while sacrificing a lot of time and arguments with "she who didn't understand" ...until I bought her an EVO. Have to say the only thing I envy is the androids ability for voice reck. Otherwise, my my revamped TP2 titanium/SPB shell rom makes me love my TP2 all over again! Still holding out for something better than a pretty paint job.

A more simple step before doing a complete flash may be disabling Sense and testing out SPB Mobile Shell for a few days. Most people are pleasantly surprised by the improvement in "snappiness."

edit- or just only disable Sense
