What a bummer, I'm paying for insurance just to be offered an Imagio or Palm Pre? (I'm on Verizon, btw). I just got a warranty replacement TP2 last week, and it is just like brand new. Perfect. If I get a different phone, it'll be a Droid X or Droid 2, not an Imagio or Palm Pre.

Just for fun I checked Sprint Asurion web sight today for 2 of my lines. I dont know if they are NIB of refurbished but they offered a TP2 for a TP2. And a TP1 for a TP1.

I'm pretty sure the bottom line is that Sprint offers the TP2 replacement but Verizon doesn't. I just got off the phone with Asurion and they for sure can't replace my TP2 with anything but an Imagio. This, obviously, is complete utter bullshit because they call the Imagio an "upgrade" when it is still a piece of crap TP2 but even crappier because it doesn't have a QWERTY keypad. Just because it was released later doesn't make it a better phone. I suggested they replace it with a Droid but she said that would be considered an upgrade (though I thought a second ago they're OK with 'upgrades' like the Imagio?) DESPITE the fact that the Droid has nearly identical specs as the TP2 (including a QWERTY keyboard) but with a different OS.

I CALL SHENANIGANS!

EDIT: I called Asurion again and this time asked to speak to someone who I could talk to about getting a QWERTY phone (I'm not gonna lie...had a Droid in mind the whole time) -- he told me to wait a minute while he checked their inventory for a more similar phone. Turns out the Droid seems to be a good match. WHADDAYA KNOW. 89 bucks and it should get shipped on Monday (it's currently Friday 2 am).

Now a happy customer.

TP2 for a standard DROID??? like the year old Moto DROID??? if your happy thats all that matters, but thats not much of an upgrade... MY TP2 will smoke a DROID.. especially saying TP2 can run anything that DROID can..

But im glad to see Asurion went out of their way for you thats for sure.

Tp2 is a great phone but it won't smoke a droid. Maybe the moto droid 1. But I went from tp2 to an evo and the tp2 will not even touch the evo. You can tweak the tp2 alot but the evo is so much more stable without any tweaking. All I know is that I would never give up a droid over tp2 or any wm phone. Maybe a wm7 phone but haven't tried it yet.

He never said anything about a TP2 competing with an Evo. He's talking about the original droid.
