in the end it all comes down to LEARN TO DO IT YOURSELF, or dont complain about it till you can DO IT YOURSELF...

if you dont make Roms, you dont really have the right to complain about whats contained in ROMs..

OK - color the world any way you want, but I was never complaining.

Not that it's really the point, but I'm also learning how to make my own ROMs now - but I'm sure it will take some time.

I agree with you as well boredandtattooed. I think the OP should have taken out the "...none of the current roms are really letting the TP2 reach its full potential" sentence somewhat knocking the chefs, all of whom do incredible work. And just put the idea out here, which I think is a good one.

Re: **ATTENTION CHEFS** HTC "Enhancements" vs Performance

Same here. While WM 6.5 is fun, and Sense is cool, the system really starts running down on memory so fast, and performance lags behind.

Now, here's what I look for:

Windows Mobile 6.1 <-------------- Super fast
Opera Mobile 10
Office 2010
Remote Desktop
Internet Sharing
MMS
Fastest D3D Drivers <----------- Important for Opera and YouTube
YouTube <----------- This is a make it or break it for me, must have

What I don't want:

Unnecessary HTC Window Dressings
SENSE UI (unnecessary and bloaty)
Extra useless system services that run in the background

With a setup like that a 50 MB RAM usage is possible, maybe even less!

Here's the problem. I have yet to find a kitchen that has Windows Mobile 6.1 on it, because everyone likes 6.5.

Download any kitchen and put a 6.1 SYS in it, you can do it with any kitchen. And you must not have even looked past the first page in the upgrade section because Scrosler has a 6.1 kitchen. Yes, Scrosler's may say sprint on it, but you could change a couple packages and be up and running on VZ.

And to the OP, there are several CHEF's who make titanium ROMs and 6.1 ROMs, and they are just a button click away on this very site.

if you disable some of the tabs, sense can actually run pretty fast. And i think that Sense 'freezing' for a sec isn't that different or out of the ordinary, it's just that in WinMo you would see the wait cursor animation instead.

Have any of you tried my ROM?
Its 6.1, running Manila with MaxSense. I've used it for a while and wouldn't call it a slouch. Would be interested to see what you guys looking for "fast" ROMs think of it.

I agree with this all the way. I used to have the Verizon Touch Pro.. biggest P.O.S., but I put SSK Rom on it and it ran better than ever. He also included a kitchen to give you the option of what you wanted or didn't want in your ROM. I would love to see somebody master the TP2 the same way.

Titanium / Sense 2.1 ROMs
  • This is a minimal ROM version without Sense in it. It's used primarily for people that like to customize the default 6.5 homescreen (Titanium)
  • You can use it to install alternate homescreen interfaces like SPB Mobile Shell, etc
  • Very low memory footprint and good battery life, but very simple and lacks a lot of features that you would otherwise have available in Sense...

thanks NRG...
