Re: E-Mail sync with Gmail

Just set ip up as a POP and set Gmail, thru the website, to keep the mail in the folder when retrieved with POP. Then setup your desktop email to retrieve as IMAP, if you want it deleted after retrieval.

Re: E-Mail sync with Gmail

I use google sync, and it doesn't delete them off the server when I delete them off my phone. instead of imap/pop, I just set up the account through activesync with the server of m.google.com, your whole email address and password as the login creds, and all other options default, and that's how it works on my phone: delete it off the phone, it just trashes the message there, but will still appear in my gmail when I login on my PC

Re: E-Mail sync with Gmail

I just tried setting it up again, this time I used pop3 from the beginning. There was a little drop down box right under when you type in "pop.gmail.com" and I changed the option from IMAP to POP. This option wasn't there when I had already set up my email using the default settings the first time.

I'm testing it out now to see if it works.

Re: E-Mail sync with Gmail

It looks like it worked. The only quirk I see is that when I delete an SMS/MMS they don't go to the 'deleted items' bin anymore. I don't know how that's related at all, but I can live with it.

Thanks for all the help.

In the e-mail setup there is an option about deleting e-mail, but neither option is what I want. (I have attached the picture) I'm not sure if that's even the right place to check.

What I want is my emails to be displayed onto my phone, and when I delete an email from my phone I want it to stay on Gmail.com Is there a way to do this?
I've found that if I select all messages and "move to" [gmail]. It removes them from my device without deleting them from Google's server
