Actually, it's nothing like that at all.

If you want a car analogy, it's like buying a car with a manual transmission as models with CVT are coming out.

CVT has been anointed The Next Big Thing (tm), but that claim is questionable at best, and in sticking with the manual, you're not really losing anything and in fact you're gaining quite a bit, and you're free to use your manual automobile until the end of time.

OK so all in all the TP2 is worth buying... Also i have to note that i will be buying this phone out of contract because i am not the main line in my service contract and am not eligible for an upgrade so I will have to pay fuill price or ebay whatever phone i get. I am a full time student and have my phone line paid for unless i am to get C's or lower so i am fortunate that i do not have to pay for service myself. I really want a new phone because the HTC TP i had just stopped turning on and i don't have insurance on it and its the 3rd one and last i will own as far as the TP is concerned, and this BB i am currently on just pisses me off and i am sick of it. I am really torn as to if i should get the TP2 or the Samsung Moment because i really like the way the Motorola Droid works but the moment isn't an exact replica as far as software and UI but does have the apps feature i like and could benefit from. I also dont really want to pay $600 for a new EVO and not come with a pull out KB. I don't feel as if an all touch screen phone is for me because even though i own and iPod touch it really gets old using the whole touchscreen 24/7 and my big fingers push too many things at once. I just don't want to get a phone and absolutely hate it because it doesn't do anything i want or do what it is supposed to. I kinda am leaning towards the Moment for the simple fact its similar to the iPhone without the being 'limited' part so-to-speak. I want a phone that works well in doing basic phone tasks and doesn't take forever like MMS and SMS but cant handle applications that i need to use that only a smart phone can give me. Its hard to make a decision on which phone i should really go for.

This! Higher screen res is great, more spaced out kb is awesome (minus loss of ctrl key but keyboard config makes up for this nicely) but the battery life is amazing compared to the TP1. I got to the point where I had to charge my TP1 daily (every 8 hrs or so) with little use and unless I missed something you couldn't get third party batteries and charge them in the phone. With the TP2 I've been able to last 2 days without a charge on medium use. I went on a trip that used to kill my TP1 battery in 4-6 hrs because it'd jump between roaming/1x/evdo over and over all day and my TP2 batt was at 70% after 8 hours.

Maybe one option will be to wait for June 6th. I know you don't want to get an EVO but the people who do are likely going to be selling their phones and perhaps you can snag a TP2 for cheap.
