Using the Phone as the primary internet source

Hi,

I was wondering if I could plug my phone thru USB into a wireless router and have wireless internet throughout the house. I do not want to use the WiFIrouter program on the device.

Sorry for the noob question.

TIA

It does not really work that way..for the device to receive internet it has to have compatible drivers..so unless you write the drivers into the firmware of your router it won't happen.

You can of course connect it to a pc and share internet over the network.

Is there a reason why you don't want to use a WIFI utility on the phone? is it cause of a PS3 or range issue?

I understand why.

I live in the boonies with no access to dsl, cable, or any other conventional high speed internet option.
I have a few choices.
1. Dial up (which would require a home phone and a dial up account): Yuck
aprox cost: ~$15 for dial up access + ~$30 for landline ~ $30 data package on my VZW phone
Total = $75

2. Community Wide Wifi: 1mbps
$60 per month + $30 data package on my VZW phone
Total = $90

3. Hughes Net (or other Sattelite based: 700 kbps
$75 per month + $30 data package on my VZW phone
Total = $105

4. VZW Unlimited Data Package (via ICS or Wifi sharing): up to 1.5 MBPS in my area
$30 per month
Total = 45 dollars less than the next cheapest option.

So Option number 4 is the one I pick.

Re: Using the Phone as the primary internet source

Well I use the touchpro2 as my internet source (tmobile) becuase I save money that way. Some people dont have enough for both types of plans. As far as my exp. the internet is pretty quick but that varies from carrier to carrier.

im with you on saving money, but its just worth it to me to have fast internet. slow webbrowsing makes me want to bang my head on the desk.

Thats why I pointed out I have no other options.... 1.5 is the fastest I can get where I live. It happens to be the cheapest too.
