Re: [BOUNTY] Working FM on TP2
I would like to mention two things. First, is it not the GSM hardware that lets GSM cell phone users tap into the FM frequency. Second, I have a friend who has an LG phone from Verizon and he too has FM radio. How is that working?

Re: [BOUNTY] Working FM on TP2
Is it a fact, or is it just hearsay? A possibility? But not a fact? Do you have a definate for sure answer that It WONT work because you are 100% sure the hardware isn't fully connected via the PCB? If no one knows for sure, then it ISN'T a definate answer. If many of us are all rooting for an FM radio, but don't know for sure, then why not go out hunting for the facts yourself? You can't expect a couple other people to do all the dirty work. I'm just saying.....
Now, do we have any facts to back up whether it does... or don't have the full PCB connections? While you are thinking that one over, I'm going to hunt out a schematic for the BT stack, then I'm going to find out if anyone took detailed images of the internal citcuitry of their TP2's. This will help me verify whether or not all circuits are enabled internally. If you have a definate answer, then I'll either continue looking, or I'll cease it alltogether. Just want facts. Not a thread over where a bunch of people argue over what it MAY or MAY NOT have. Thanks

Re: [BOUNTY] Working FM on TP2
Hanjamin300, the GSM radio has nothing to do with the FM radio. The FfM tuner is part of the BT stack (Bluetooth radio). It's a bonus built-in feature of the BT chip. CDMA & GSM have nothing in common with it. The FM frequency is way lower than a standard CDMA or GSM band. FM is 86.5 MHZ - 109MHZ. While even the low bands of GSM/CDMA are not lower than 800MHZ.

Re: [BOUNTY] Working FM on TP2
The radio is in the bluetooth chip from what I've read... had what i thought was a brainstorm and turned on the bluetooth on my phone before running HTC FM Radio... but nothing. wishfull thinking.
I've been searching for a while this evening and have found quite a few links... xda developers has a couple of threads - the HTC Radio app won't work on CDMA phones for whatever reason. Also, the Power Radio app explicitly states that it doesn't work on CDMA TP2's (though it partially supports GSM TP2's), so thats 2 FM apps that won't work on CDMA. Lots of TP2 users in other countries have success with HTC FM Radio but i haven't found the common theme among them all that points to them all being GSM or not. Further there is a thread about creating an RDS FM Radio app and they are currently at a roadblock on the Rhodium. THere are some interesting registry lines, like HKLM\Software\WIDCOMM\BTConfig\General\RadioInitLi braryBCRMInit.dll but nothing conclusive as to pointing to how to enable communication with the radio. Last page of the RDS Radio thread a guy may have found the DLL thats responsible for read/writing to the chipset but thats as far as they've gotten. Final edit for the night.... seems all questions will be answered here (mods forgive my url work-around) http ://forum. ppcgeeks. com/showthread.php?t=78574&page=26 <<<answer is that the hardware isn't enabled and needs to be enabled when the phone boots up else no go.

Re: [BOUNTY] Working FM on TP2
Guys, jeez, let me tell you something.
There is a 75% chance it is not hardware disabled, more likely a driver issue. That being said, there is a good chance that it can be fixed.
