Re: Is it just me or is windows mobile 6.5 terrible

Thanks to those that responded. I would like to first address those that have deemed me a whiner. I did not make this post just to whine, I wanted to see if others were having the same issues that I have been having.

I am not just considering jumping ship because of 6.5, I have been on a windows mobile phone since the ppc6700 and it seems with every new upgrade and every new phone I have a few more bugs than on the last one. This one has taken it to the point of not being usable, when a phone call pops up and I am unable to answer it because the phone is unresponsive and then it takes minutes to get the phone rebooted so that I can call them back then I have a major issue.

For those that have suggested that it is my fault for not taking advantage of cooked ROMS etc., they just aren't for me. I don't have time to constantly tweak on the phone, I have a job where I am not on a computer, a family, and a life outside of that and for me I just don't have the time to constantly tweak on the phone (or post on this forum, as my post count will show). I used to, but not anymore. Believe me I wish I did have the time to.

I am going to reflash without the tweaks and see how the phone does. Hopefully it will work flawlessly as it seems to have for some of you.

Re: Is it just me or is windows mobile 6.5 terrible

If you have your radio unlock, try updating to 2.32.00WU (the stock radio is 2.23.00). I had freezing issues all the time with the 2.23.00 radio and after I updated the radio, I have no freezing issues and battery life is excellent (and I have data on all the time).

Go to http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=106571 to find out about the radio.

Get an iPhone. Stable. Plenty of apps. Plug & play.
This isn't the phone for you.
6.1/6.5 both have some issues for few not all.
Both needed a modicum - ie small - of tweaks.
That't it. This isn't complicated.
Either you can handle it or you can't.
Make it easy on yourself.

Re: Is it just me or is windows mobile 6.5 terrible

I was using Sprint's 2.5 stock ROM for a while and I never experienced all the freezing. Its just the apps and programs you are putting on your phone that is not getting along with 6.5. There are going to be incompatible apps from 6.1 to 6.5. Just see what you might have recently installed and uninstall it and work it down from there.

Re: Is it just me or is windows mobile 6.5 terrible

I am a sprint rep and switch phones often, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2, Palm Pre, Palm Pixi, Blackberry Curve....etc... I must say I like the look and feel of 6.5 much better than 6.1.....I have noticed if let my text messages build up they respond much much slower but if i clear out my messages it responds alot faster...just my 2 sense

Re: Is it just me or is windows mobile 6.5 terrible

all these posts remind me of the guy who brought his mustang into the Ford dealer and complained that the thing wouldn't run worth a crap and the handling sucks. Yeah, it's totally stock except for the 4 barrel carb he put on and the aftermarket springs.

The point is..... you cant run Sense 2.1 taskbars on Sense 2.5. Many of the tweeks that work on 6.1 will trash 6.5. I've been running 6.5 custom roms for about 6 months, and I learned the hard way. The new Sprint ROM is as solid as any rom out there. I tried goodthings cleanup and it seemed to cause lots of problems with the Sprint ROM. I had to hard reset to undo the damage and now it's fine.

So, be careful what taskbars and mods you install, make sure they are built for your version of manila. Be careful what tweeks you install, make sure they were written for 6.5.
