I've been searching on various sites/forums for years and honestly, the search here is probably the worst of the sites I frequent. However, I'm willing to overlook the frustrating search since theres so much good stuff here though

I'm sure its all a matter of opinion, but people have to consider....being USED to something tends to make it more familiar and comfortable, hence why users that have always searched here seem to find what they want without issue. I myself am not the type of person that generally deals with "faults" and passes them off as "quirks" which is what I think a lot of people here generally do. A lot of people use some form of Linux because its powerful, quick, and efficent...which aren't good excuses for being complicated. That being said, Linux has its appropriate uses though as much as some may argue, desktop computing isn't one of them.

Thanks everyone including Staff for helping these members understand. I do have a suggestion for those complaining about searching. Our VBulletin search is actually just like google, but YOU HAVE TO BE SPECIFIC. I just did a search for what this whole thread is about through the VBulletin search engine, and sure enough, I found your opera mini cab. Not hard at all!!!

1. I searched for Opera Mini Cab

This is what all it found:

These all include opera mini but if you look closely, that one that says "favorite cabs"

There's your pot of gold!

I hope this helps those of you having such a hard time searching

OK, it says Favorite cabs, how am I suppose to know that Opera Mini is in there? Who knows for sure it made the list?

As a matter of fact, I don't see anything that says Opera or Mini.

First off, don't get me wrong, I freaking love ppcgeeks.

Lets just call search engines, cars, for the sake of this discussion.

The issue is the ergonomic feel to the seats and interior's layout in relation to the driver/passenger. Sure, A LOT of cars have GPS navigation...and it generally gets you to the right place...BUT, sometimes it's about how you get there that matters. Do you know how many cars have navigation that you sometimes cannot see on account of glare from the sun? It's almost every one I've ever seen. Yea, you can wear sunglasses, tilt your head, or even use your hand to block the sun....but its REALLY nice when you don't have to.

When I use a search feature I expect to easily find what I'm looking for, that is assuming I even know what I'm searching for. If I don't know exactly the right way to search for it...Google doesn't seem to have any issues helping me figure it out. Keep in mind, I don't expect everything to be Google. I'm just saying that I think that is where some people are coming from. And as much as the search here might be like Google, to the average user, it is much trickier to find what your looking for. Not to mention that I can more quickly find a link I'm looking for, on THIS site, by using "site: ppcgeeks.com <search term>" on google.com instead of searching with the search function here.

This isn't so much a complaint but just food for thought on what people have mentioned here. Thanks for all you do here!

Ah the wonders of tinted glass...sorry couldn't resist :P...

but yeh...there is a reason why google search got to the market share of the search engines they do today. And when searching vBulletin I never use the regular search..always Advanced Search.
