Cool Re: Why do people like using Swype? It seems more complicated than useful.

<- Imagio = no hard keyboard.
Swype's error correction & prediction is far better than anything else on the phone. Once you get passed the small learning curve it absolutely flies. If you're having trouble with it, you're just not going fast enough & haven't seen the couple of tutorials on it. (double letters, quick numbers & punctuation etc). Should also check the sliders in it's settings menu. Some installs have wierd settings that don't work very well.

Re: Why do people like using Swype? It seems more complicated than useful.

There is only one thing that frustrates the crap out of me. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to make swype's word selection / error correction work while using opera?

If you double tap a word in opera, the swype word choice window doesn't pop up. Therefore I must manually correct all words. And manual correction succkkkkssss because you either backspace to the error and tap each letter one by one (you can't swype just half a word) or you delete the entire word and swype again.

Neither of which can hold a candle to just double tapping the word and then selecting the correct choice from a list, like you can while texting/emailing.

Does any version of the swype cab allow this with any version of opera?

(Didn't read this entire thread)

But i agree with the OP. I don't understand what is so great about swipe either.
I took like over an hour trying to get used to it, but i find it easier just to type the word out. Time Swipe figured out what i wanted to say, i could have said 100 other things....

I'm happy with a slider keyboard

If you check the Homepage you'll see another Contest won/Record broken using Swype! It's much faster than just typing the word out. The fact that it remembers words you type helps.

I honestly love swype. I have tried it on the Epic and in my opinion, it just flat out kicks ass. I never used the keyboard on the epic, I mostly used swype.
once you use it for a bit and get it adjusted, its almost natural to use. Combine it with a large screen and its really powerful.

I deleted the posts with attachments for Swype.

Since the developer has asked that all ports be taken down, Swype is considered warez on this site, and per the rules it cannot be distributed here.

Let's keep this a discussion only.

Thanks!

People that say swype is useless or doesn't work need to stop whining . Just because you don't know how to use something doesn't make it useless. With swype most people can type faster than somebody that has a physical keyboard. If swype is so useless then why was the fastest sentence written with swype? Stop being lazy and giving up so easily.

I gave Swype a try for a week but I really prefer the smaller screen size of TouchPal 4.

Re: Why do people like using Swype? It seems more complicated than useful.

I use both the "normal" full keyboard that the TP2 comes with and Swype. They both have their uses. For writing my work reports or dealing with alot of writing I use Swype, it's MUCH faster than tapping on the keyboard and much faster than the screen's full keyboard.
The only issue I have with it is that it doesn't get recognized by the phone's software ie: I type in contacts first three letters of name it brings up selection.
Were it to do this, I would exclusively use it.

Overall I like the program and hope to see it improved upon so I can start using only it.
Oh Yeah, I also LOVE how easy it is to add to my dictionary. That makes it so much better for long papers and reports.
