I have the same issue... I think it is because I have over 650 contacts. I spoke with someone that had over 2200 contacts and they have the same issue. After a hard reset, I tested this with no contacts and it works fine. I manually added about 20 contacts and no problem. I then sync'd with Exchange server and brought in all 650+ of my business contacts and the problem came back. Not sure if this is the only reason why, but I can tell you it is part of the problem with the ROM.

WELL...thats a lot to swallow here but I dont have that many txt msg's I have a little over 1000 messages on my phone, I will try and archive them via "Microsoft My Phone" and see if that resolves the issue if it does that thats going to be CRAP because I NEVER had this issue in 6.1 and personally I dont want to revert back.

I have Archived all of my txt messages and seems to have resolved the issue, my SMS/MMS screen much more responsive no lag or delay and my device doesn't freeze or lock up...it seems kind of hoksey that 6.5 has an issue with a large number of txt msg's and 6.1 didn't/doesn't, its not that its the end of the world but givin this issue there's got to be a cheff that would like to take on this issue and write a fix for it as a REG Edit or patch...if I knew what I was foing i'd take it on because who wants to be limited by there txt msg's

Yeah I notice Active Sync running alot. I also was curious if txt message count had an impact. I have like 2,500 ish on my phone right now. I'll try deleting and seeing whats up.

On a side note any of you local guys know anyone wanting to buy a TP2? Got a spare I wanna get rid of and don't have 50 posts here yet.

yea i'm havin the same issue, i added my snt msg bubble bak, and sometims it will freeze for about 1min the it will unfreeze..acouple of times it will lock up the phone and i have to soft reset it...its crazy..please let there b a fix for this lol

Deleting txts and archiving old ones seems to be a workaround. Should be a non issue, but it is what it is. Im sure someone will cook up a fix eventually.

I had this same exact issue on 6.1. It's manila's messaging. It's loading all the 18K or 21K texts. When you sent/receive txts it will have to re-load the updated 18K-21K txts all over again.
What I do so that I have my txts available and searchable is that I use
Efficasoft Mobile Express to export the txt to a .txt file.
then I use a perl script I wrote to turn the .txt into a mbox format.
then I load it up into thunderbird portable.
then I copy them to a local imap server.
finally, I have gmail synch the files from my computer and tag them as SMS.
So I can search through them on-the-go.

after I do this, I can archive them in myPhone. One feature myphone needs is something like "archive all by last 5 txt from each conversation" that would rule.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I keep my text message inbox lean to avoid slowdowns as well.
