it doesn't help when people give suggestions (i.e. can you get into the bootloader screen by pressing power and vol down), and the OP doesn't respond back.
i think the other guy that did this never did get it fixed but was able to get a replacement.

OP, if this is a sprint phone, even if you don't have insurance, they are having open enrollment in march, you can add the insurance, then have them transfer you over to assurion to get a replacement.

Yes that's part of it. The rest is a *HUGE* overload of information. When I wanted to flash for the first time I had to wade through 1,000 posts all going on and on using words and terms I didn't understand at all. I had to guessimate and condense it down to the relevant info. My first flashing was a pants-pooping adventure and by pure dumb luck I got it right.

I say the following with respect; really. You guys are phone gods but most of you forgot what it's like being a noobie. You use college-level terms and 1,000 line instructions while talking to pre-schoolers. Most of you do. A few of you do not but those threads and posts are buried deeply in the pile and NOOBIES DON'T KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR!
Most of it is like "Install the framistat while snorkling your woho and flika the isoprop ROM. If it doesn't work edit the kitchen scripts"*.

Whaaaaa????? No wonder some people flash the wrong ROM. "I don't know if my phone is a flika or a isoprop; all I know that is it's a Sprint Touch Pro. I'm all cornfused! I'll use this ROM here"......and end up with a brick.

Nobody has written a primer for us noobies.

I know somebody will jump on me about "flashing without first doing homework" or something like that. True! True! I agree but..uh...where is the homework? When I got my phone I didn't even know where to begin to look. All I knew was that it was a Sprint Touch Pro". That's all. The only "homework" I could find was long long threads talking about rodiums and kitchens and GSMs and holding down seven buttons on the phone while waving the stylus and yelling "Avada Kedavra Flashus Tobrickus"*; almost nothing with basic terms. Not much with clues as to what I needed to know. No obvious Pre-school stuff.

Here's a thought. Somebody with all the knowledge write a pre-flashing primer something like this:

BEFORE YOU EVEN THINK OF FLASHING KNOW THE FOLLOWING!

1) How to use activesynch. See posts# xxx and xxxx and xxx.
2) How To backup all phone data. Posts#xxx and xxxxx
3) Know the keywords for what phone you have

The Sprint Touch Pro 1 ROMS will have the following keywords: CDMA, Raphiel, Raph800, Hermann......blah blah blah.
They will NOT have GSM, Rodium,.. blah blah blah.

Your ROMS will be in the following forums and ONLY the following forums. Make SURE you are in one of these forums and then check again..... .. ..

The unlocker for Sprint is HERE.
The unlocker for Verizon is HERE.
The unlocker for AT&T is HERE

Thanks guys.I still got the warranty.I'll try to contact a htc representative and see if I can ship it back to them.

Volume Down + Power won't do anything.I'm done trying to fix this phone.It's beyond me.

That was just a rough guesstimate of what the guide should look like. I'm a noobie. *You* guys write the guide.

But my point has been made. After reading piles and piles of confusing technical info and zillions of posts to dig through for simple basic information I thought the Verizon TP was a GSM radio. Good thing I don't have one; I would have bricked it by now.

Please! We need a Guide for Noobie Beginners that explain things like that!
