Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom
I had the same exact issue as you. I didn't have:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] MaxCMCon=0 so I created it as a DWORD. I still had none listed in the network connection. So go to menu > tools > internet sharing. There should be no network selection option here. I chose usb and then connected and it worked. Quote:

I have the HTC WiFi working via these instructions. But, I'd really like to be able to do it the old fashioned, wired way, too. |

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom
I just followed almost all the steps of the OP on post 1 and it worked!!!
thank you When it came to the 3rd registry value, there was no value: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing] MaxCMCon=0 in that folder, but rather in the folder [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings] maxCMConnectRetries=0 so I figure its the same thing and I left it alone without creating this key value. Works like a charm thanks |

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom
replaces (or adds):
intshare.dll ipnat.dll IntShrUI.exe and a shourtcut to the 3rd file... It also make the following regedits... HCR intsharuiapp + sub-regedits HLM -Comm --BT (bluetooth settings) --tcpip --Connection sharing -Software (more BT settings..) Seems to be like a lot of extra stuff in there...

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom
A pitfall that makes tethering confusing for the Touch Pro 2 with WM65 and Sense 2.5, was that if you select the Internet Sharing from the Sense 2.5 pop-up (just after connecting the USB cable), "tethering will not work".
However, if you select Active Sync then go back and use the Internet Sharing from the Start/Tool folder, then "tethering does work". I searched the registry to see if it had any entries for IntShr.exe, but it did not. I do not know what Sense 2.5 is doing to cause it's choice to not work. Although the Sense 2.5 choice looks exactly the same as Tools/Internet Sharing, it does not work. |
