Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd- am i missing something?
Since Mobile world Congress (MWC) when Microsoft first anounced WMphone7, to today @MIX10 the look has changed already in less than a month. It is not due to be out until around Nov or Dec 2010. Im sure many things will change by then, and developers will figure out ways to create and allow for some of the other things we want in time. I agree with everyone here as we have similar ideas and prefer a pocket pc over a dumb "smart phone", but I have a feeling things will continue to improve throughout time.
It may be a year or two but I believe that at some point we will see more of an integration with what we want and what microsoft wants to bring to the average smart phone user in its efort to gain a larger market share of the smart phone OS industry. Recently Doug Smith,Microsofts's Latin American Director of mobile communications was interviewed and asked about Windows Mobile phone 7 and the continued development of WM 6.5. He responded with "We still have a long runway for Windows 6.5 development before the 7 launch in holiday 2010." Im sure we will continue to see WM6.5 devices into next year and eventualy developers and powerusers will find a way to make it work. I might venture into Android supper sonic since the HD2 is not comming to sprint, but I hope that if I do eventualy WM will bring me back around with a combination of what we want and the new WP7 OS. Here is a link regarding the continued development of 6.5 and interview from last week with Doug Smith,Microsofts's Latin American Director of mobile communications. http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=14043

I REALLY hope Microsoft reads these forums lol. They are going to tank big time if all this is true. Very sad, I've had windows phones ever since the 6600

I'd have no problem at all with what they're doing with WM if they'd just stop trying to dictate what we should have the ability to do with our phones. Why not make a WM7 pro with limited tech support and add in the ability to multitask without restriction, use some sort of file system, and freely install applications from any source we desire? Those of us who would use those features are already well aware that our battery life would be affected, we might run into bugs, etc, and we're more than capable of finding our own help if we need it. I'd gladly pay a reasonable premium for this, I just want the option to have it. There's a lot to like about WM7, but absence of the power features we all know and love is a dealbreaker As for me, I'll be running my TP2 until a) it dies, b) Verizon releases the HD2, or c) i get my next upgrade and give one of the snapdragon HTC android offerings a try. Maybe someone will figure out how to hack WM6.5 onto the Incredible or Nexus One or something like that. Last edited by helix139; 03-16-2010 at 05:38 PM. |

Re: WP7 no removable storage, no file explorer, no usb hdd, NO COPY AND PASTE
look what they did with Vista??? do u really think they care what their users want? Windows computer users wanted a better version of XP...they got Vista..which was totally crapified...this doesnt surprise me at all..But its not like Windows has any of the market anyways in cellphones so they kinda need to do something to get somemore users..Hello Android featuring HTC sense for me !

Windows strong point is the application compatibility.then again if microsoft made all software from before incompatible for windows, they may end up loosing huge market share. And many people still stick to XP. By the way you think Vista is bad..Windows ME made it looks like best OS ever.
